I like that a lot Toby.  How about "the will to lose weight means nothing without the will to stop eating cheetoes"  ? Which by the way I did not have last night ( the will that is. i had the cheetoes).   DC2PBGH,  good luck on your trial by fire!

Thanks!  I successfully proposed today without needing to revise my manuscript (common requirement to pass the proposal in my program). So, I somehow managed to convince four accomplished Ph.D.s that I know what I'm doing and am capable of doing it Yay!

    Awesome, Kat!!!  Congratulations!

Now THAT (getting the PhD) was a real marathon, wasn't it?   My wife got her PsyD about 2 yrs ago, so I've got some inkling as to what it's like. Feels great, doesn't it?!  How about a celebratory run!

Wow, definately don't have that yet! This was a proposal to make sure my Masters project was feasible and that I have enough knowledge and capability to conduct the study I proposed.  Ph.D. is estimated to be awarded in 2012 or 2013... best bet is my program's a 6 year program! So yes, it will be a marathon! And sadly, I don't even get bling at the end

Maybe not the hard bling, but the bling that's really worthwhile is and will be coming your way.

Whoops, sorry Kat.  Brain not functioning well at 5am I guess.  I saw proposal but was thinking defended as in done.  Still a big step, though!  Good luck the rest of the way!  We had 2 kids while my wife was in school (and we already had 1) so it got stretched out a bit for her - about 9 years!

    Re: Who Fartlek'd?

At some point last summer I realized that the best time for me to have kids would be during my clinical internship which would be in about 4 or 5 years. Then I realized that I'd like to be married for a few years before I had kids. Then I realized for that to happen would mean I'd basically need to get married now. So, kids will probably come while I'm junior faculty trying to get tenure and that means it's a good thing I know lots of psychologists because I'm going to lose my mind!
