Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

WTG Angela! Everyone is doing so great, how exciting. Lane and Joggerlegs, I'm glad y'all liked my playlist! Joggerlegs, I do the same thing, think back to when I'd go out clubbin back in the day, good times, too funny.

I'm so excited to tell you guys that I ran 3 miles yesterday!!!! Of course I was only set to run 2.75 per week 8's instructions, but I felt like I could keep on goin' and I actually did it!!! You have NO idea how excited I was. I didn't do a good job of timing myself but I 'think' it took me about 35 minutes. I'm going to continue TRYING to make 3 miles on each run and get used to it then shave off time if I can. Their is a 5K next Friday night that I might enter, it sounds like fun, people dress up and act crazy (i.e. paint themselves green, etc.) for St. Pat's day coming up, it's a huge deal here.....otherwise my first race is March 27.

I've got so much going on right now, with my kids, with my husband, with our finances....sometimes I feel like the only thing I'm in control of and am actually doing well at, is running. If I didn't have this I'd probably be going crazy right now! There's a lot to be said for running for your sanity!! Thanks everyone for sharing your stories and being supportive!

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

JawJa that is soooooooooooo funny. I was just thinking yesterday about how I used to hear women say that they had to workout to stay sane.....NOW I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND!! I NEED TO RUN TO STAY SANE!! It puts me in such a better mood and I think my kids really notice it!

Okay, where is SlogOn??? I'm kind of worried!! She used to be on here all the time!! SlogOn where are you....Come out, come out wherever you are!

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

I'm here, I'm here, I'm here! Sorry, that I haven't been checking in as much but I have been really busy. My father is in the hospital and I have been there a lot.

I did complete w8d2 today and it was tough. I was just really tired this morning but I pushed through. I am signing up for a 5k on April 20th. I'm just worried about the fact that I haven't been outside yet, (treadmill only).

I think that running keeps me sane also. My son is ADHD and this c25k has been my outlet. I was never good at handling stress but I have found a way,

I feel so out of the loop right now. I guess I haven't been keeping up because I am missing you guys. This is nuts, what am I going to do 2 weeks from now?

Yeah, Dimplez I'm so glad you're still with us!! I knew you didn't give up!! I'm so sorry about your dad. I hope he's okay. And I totally agree that this C25K has helped me with stress. I swear I need to run every day to help me!! LOL!!

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

Hi all,

Thanks for sharing your playlists - I especially liked yours, Lane. Many of your songs are the same as the ones on mine. Can you guess who graduated in 1987?

Anyway, I decided to postpone yesterday's run since it was my birthday. Instead of celebrating, I ended up in bed at 8:30 with a major migraine and aching body. If this is how turning 39 feels, I can't wait to see how my body responds to 40 :_| . I feel better today, not really sick, so I may try to run this evening. Otherwise I'll get it done tomorrow for sure.

Keep up the great work everybody!

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

Happy Birthday Mominmn! Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Glad you liked my playlist. It sure helps pick me up when the energy is just lagging. We're supposed to do our run after work tonight. I'd like for it to happen but it's freezing outside and it's supposed to snow right about when I get home from work. I kinda like running with snow falling around me though-so we'll see. :) I'll be good and drink all my water today so the run will be smoother. :)

Hope you all have an excellent weekend. I can't believe that week 9 starts after tonight. We really are Finishers...:)

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

I did W9D1 today and finished without too much difficulty! I stopped once for a quick one minute break and made it up at the end. Did 5 minute warm up and reset the TM so I could see the whole 30 minutes tick by. I've got my favorite song- "Kiss-I want to Rock and Roll all night" that really gets me jogging easily and without any discomfort. Weird how a certain song is more comfortable to jog to than another. I need about 6 of those in a row that are that exact beat per minute.

I have two more runs till I'm done with the program, I can't believe it! Now that I can run 30 minutes I have to move up to 2 miles, then three. I don't even cover two miles in that time. With walk on the front and back end I do, but I ran just short of two actual run time. Still so slow. But now I'm going to just repeat the 30 min each time and try to move up a notch each week till I can do it. Its an amazing feeling to be at the end week looking back. We are FINISHERS!!!! Woo HOoooo!

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)
Week 8 is in the books ladies and gentlemen! Woohoo!!! Look at me in fancy week 9! Hee hee! So---week 8 tried to kick my butt-but I kicked it right back. It was the hardest week for me since week 4! I didn't realize how much we'd picked up the pace until we got home and I was so winded and dizzy I could barely make it up the steps. I think we're about hitting 3 miles now.Maybe a smidge short of that. I have yet to track it in totam with the car. Hope you all have a pleasant week and I'll see all you wild n' crazy Finishers in Week 9!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

Angela Congratulations!!!

I went to the park yesterday for my run and my husband came with me. He walked and I ran. He seriously could not believe how long I ran for and he kept telling me how impressed he was. It was tough out there in the wind on a dirt trail, but it feels great when finished!

I am still going over and over week 8 as I a a bit reluctant to do week 9. I am still not that comfortable with the 28 minute runs. I have been doing it but it hasnt been too easy. I am going to have to jump to week 9 on the treadmill tonight at the gym. That might make it less of a challenge.

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)
I'll tell you one thing...it amazes me how people i know, who never ran before, start telling you they are running now, and running MILES. I find that almost impossible. and quite discouraging. It has taken me 9 weeks to get to this point with alot of effort and determination. and also a severe change in my diet,. They on the other hand are goin out partying almost every night, lay around on the weekends, and have never even exercised before. I think they are full of it. I don't know, I guess they are mega athletes all of a sudden..lol

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

Hey guys! I finished wk 8 on Saturday. It wasn't too bad. I do find myself getting tired the last 10 minutes of the run but it should be cake to run an extra 2 minutes this week. I dread getting up and getting on my treadmill ( I think it's because it's so early in the morning) but once it's over, I feel so good. I am so proud of all of us. Week 9 day 1 tomorrow for me.

I still am not sure what everyone's plans are after this week. Please let me know if you're going to form another group because I'm in, if so.

Re: FINISHERS... Week 8 (C25K)

Hey there my Finisher Friends!

I finished W7D3 yesterday. It was a tough run for me....not enough water the day before or yesterday morning before the run and it was SUPER windy! But I did it and that's all that matters, right? I went and got fitted for some new shoes at a shoe store that actually watches you run and then puts you in a shoe based on your biomechanics. I ended up with Asics and they are really comfy. I also tried out my Nike+ for the first time. I LOVED IT!! It's so awesome to be able to listen to my own selections of music (thank you JawJa) and then have a voice come on and tell you how much you much time you have run or how much time you have left. It was really great. And then I was able to download it into the computer and then see my run visually and then I will be able to compare all of my runs. I think it's a great little thing.

I'm so glad to hear that everyone is still going strong. I will do W8D1 tomorrow. My ankles are hurting. Especially my left one which I have twisted several times in the past so I think there's some built of scar tissue or something. Dimplez, I haven't decided which program I am going to do next. I checked out both of them and I'm not sure which one would be best for me. Although when I bought my new shoes the gal told me that they will be having a group starting in April that will be training for a 10K and she said she would send me the info. So we'll see.....I'd love to hear what everybody else is planning on doing. I could probably just work on running the 5K and increasing my speed. I'm still so slow.

Is anyone else concerned about SlogOn??? She used to be on all the time and now we haven't heard from her in about a week, I think??? I hope she's doing okay. SlogOn of you are reading this will you just drop a short post to let us know you are doing okay?? You are still a FINISHER and we would like to have all of our teammates accounted for!!
