Mar 1, 2008 10:31 AMSaturday's run in which I run 10 miles and throw a possum
10.6 actually. In lovely gusty wind! The wind gusts were making me laugh and giving me flashbacks to last night's flying dream. My good deed of the day was to toss a dead possum off the road so the frustrated buzzards could eat it in peace without being interrupted by cars. I've gotten my speed up to 13 min/mile on long runs. Hooray!

Oh yeah, I saw that on the Redneck Olympics - run 10 miles while periodically tossing road kill! The extra .6 was just gratuitous, SOD.
Nice run and environmental friendliness. I just hope you washed your hands before baking cookies...
Re: Saturday's run in which I run 10 miles and throw a possum
I didn't run yesterday or today, but skied both days. Yesterday was spectacular, today was hard to wax for, slipping and sliding all over the place. But skied about 2 hours today and the woods were lovely. The season is ending soon, and I'm going to go into major depression. Thank god I'm going to watch my granddaughter for a week on March 12th and then off to see my mom in Holland. So at least I will not be hear when it's all miserably brown and muddy. I'll just be severely miserable when I get back.

My last possum was frozen stiff, making for a simpler roadside drop than usual. The classic move when I was a teen was "sailing" a "sailpossum", roadkill flattened by many drivers and dried out in summer heat to the point it was flat and stiff and flew something like a frisbee

Immer, I can hardly wait for summer now! Karen, I am most impressed with your 18 miles! Woot woot!
Re: Saturday's run in which I run 10 miles and throw a possum
No possum tossing during my run, but we did see a couple dozen turkeys and we crossed trails with a coyote that was more scared of us then us of him. I got 30 in on Saturday as planned. It felt great and it was a beautiful day is the mountains. I ran the first 20 with my support/pace crew for the SD100 and then last 10 was just Marie and I.
