Oh, I understand. Well...cherish every day...they'll be going soon enough...and before that, they'll be teenagers, and pretty much know everything there is to know!
Aw Jimmy, you're such a good dad. I have some serious storm PTSD after surviving an F4 tornado and about 5 years later a flash flood. Doing what I do for a living I've been able to treat myself pretty well, but I still hate driving in the rain at night... oh man, the night we left Landini brothers it was all I could do not to just pull over and cry. The only thing that stopped me was because I was terrified if I pulled over the storm and the roads would just get worse
Re: Storms a bruing!
Hope those darn storms pass you by tonite and that you guys and the kids sleep tight. I hate high winds, we sit on a mountain and the south wind hits the house like a freight train. It's blowing here tonite with 40 mile an hour wind gusts, keeps me up for a while and Bill sleeps like a small child and I hate him then too.
Well all went well and the little people in the house slept like babies. My wife grabbed the couch and I was laid out on the floor. Storms came through with a ruckus but nothing too serious. Daughter handled it well, I think she is almost over her fright but would hate to have it re trigger. Omi- Brace yourself tonight I think it is coming your way. Kat- When I was in junior high we were at the end of the school year and it was at the end of the day. The students in athletics were either playing football or basketball and I just happened to be playing football. Our crazy coach kept us out there until I looked up and saw 3 twisters rolling out of the sky. When we ran inside we found the entire student body sitting cross-legged against the wall. They had been there for 30-45 minutes and we had been forgotten. There was only about 15 or so of us out playing football. The very next day I had to go into the storm cellar for about 4 hours. I am pretty good with storms and have no real anxiety from any of my experiences. We had a tree fall through our roof when I stayed with my sister in Oklahoma 1 summer. I was asleep in the room next door at the time but somehow woke up with the crash. Jimmy

Thank god all went well for you guys last night, and yes, we're supposed to get an ice storm tonite. Last night it howled here like crazy, south wind, melted a lot of snow, and now we're waiting for the ice. They're talking about a 1/2 inch of ice, so that means power outages. Yack. Thank god we have a generator, which keeps the heat, the water( a well) and fridge going, you know the important stuff. Have a great day!
We woke up to snow all over our beautiful woods in the back yard! It's so beautiful! Well, if it's only a couple of days a year Too bad it all melted within an hour and it's supposed to be 60 and sunny all day... When it thunders really bad at our house, my 11-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter still come get in our king-size bed. No way am I sleeping on the floor. I wouldn't be able to stand up in the mornings (assuming I could ever fall asleep there in the first place).
It was pretty windy down here last night too. When I got off work I almost got knocked down by the wind. It's amazing how the bldgs tunnel the wind and makes the currents so much stronger. At home I found my grill across the yard and chachis got knocked back when I opened the door to let him out LOL...

Now Dutch...is there a time you don't hatte him?

Jimmy Wow...those are pretty humbling weather experiences...i've never really felt in danger from the weather. the closest was in Philmont New Mexico with my kids scout crew ...big weather way up on the mountain...had to stay in the tents or it would blow away. Second worst...i was in a 40 foot sailboat in gail force winds heading from bermuda to newport, rhode island with five other small boats...three of them lost steerage. We had it under control with our little storm tri-sail. The waves were so tall, we couldn't see the mast of the boat that couldn't have been 50 years off the port side. It knocked us on our side twice. I never felt afraid...i felt alive! however, i did throw up every morning from seasickness but thats another story. The rain stopped but the wind and waves continued. The full moon came out and i howled at it. third worst killington vermont spring break junior year...me and a bud rode in a beat-up ford mercury in a driving snow storm, and our car slid off the road...two front wheels went over the cliff...we had to pull the car back, and we kept on driving...when we finally got there, the car couldn't make it up the last hill, so we stayed at a little hotel at the bottom of the hill. we left the emergency brake on and it froze to the brake pad...had to wait half a day to thaw it off. The devastation from new orleans, the fires i see on the west coast every year, hurricane season down south...it's all a tv away. my prayers to those innocent people that are affected by these natural calamities.
