Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

I have just one word

... ouch ...

that workout really did a number on me - I have a 5 mile run today I think i`ll have to do a longer warm up walk that usual !

Stan - resist the temptation - I know exactly what you are going through - I nearly ran a few times and got a good talking to about waiting until the doc gave me the ok. It really was the smart thing to do.

andahuff - sorry ... I did laugh at your laundry room story !

Hi Rachel - welcome - you`ll find lots of support and good advice here mixed in with a lot of friendly banter - you can post daily, weekly or whenever you feel like it ! Your first half wasa great time - I`d be elated with a 2:09 finish ! Good luck with the next race

Jeff - sometime no motivation is your body screaming for a rest ! take a break you`ll come back better than ever in a day or 2

Cara - Galaxy is pretty hard to come by out here - I have friends who usually bring some over when they visit - I miss Minstrels, Ripples and Malteasers as well as plain Galaxy the most !! For the week before the race I would do no more than 2 x 3 mile runs - slow = just to keep you moving. Maybe a light bike ride. complete rest for 2 or 3 days before the races - you should be coming out of your skin with energy + dying to run by the time you hit the start. Get lots of sleep and eat well. Not much news on the EC front - he was around late last week and Sat - He`s MIA again ! I like working out to hard rock - especially weights - I have Avril Lavigne on heavy roatation while I`m running at the moment - I got her song girlfriend stuck in my head a while back and ended up buying her last album which was suprisingly good. My out of control 400 CD collection has everything from Bach to Mowtown to Ozzy Osbourne ! I`m very much into rocked out classical music at the moment also - Emerson Lake and Palmer, Trans Siberian Orchestra - If I would mess with time travel I`d let Beethoven loose on an electric guitar. I go thro phases with my music but the one constant is I`m a die hard Queen fan

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

Misswendy-we are waiting for the post called 40 Things We Should Know About MissWendy.

Thanks all for the new ideas on the tunes!

I added Rehab-Amy Winehouse For some reason I can NOT explain, I love
this song. One of my good friends is married to a tri guy who is
amazingly successful in the master's Iron-Man. He was a former cocaine
addict. He says there is something about addictive types that do well
with the addictive nature of running!

On other music news

I
dont know if you all know about www.pandora.com. I love this site
because you can put in a song that you love and it will find more
unknown artists that are similar in style to the song you enter. I
love, love, love this site.

Happy running and voting for those of you in the Great State. (Texas)

Great pics to those that posted!

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

Shout outs later, off to play in the snow with the kids.

I got 7 miles in on the TM 60:09, I was happy with the run. I guess the rest day yesterday helped.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

It's only Tuesday and as usual I'm already way behind with this group. So here's a few shout outs and race talk. I'll write more later.

Joe - great race, great time and a great pic of moi! Can you send me the full resolution version? I know it was taken with your phone, but it's a better pic than the one they took. Thanks for keeping this group organized.

Peg - thanks for posting the pictures. They were all great. I enjoyed meeting you!

Laurel - your time was fabulous!! I know you think it's slow, but it's very speedy to this 13 mm runner. Way to go!!

Andreia - I'm so sorry you missed us, um, I mean, we missed you. LOL! Hopefully there will be more to come. I'm planning to sign up for the Blue Bell 10K, so maybe I'll see you there.

So when's the next race for the group? I need to find something in May for another friend who's doing C25K right now. Let's plan it!

The race was great fun for me. It was especially fun to help Kelly make it through her first 5K. Our time wasn't fabulous, but we had a great time and I know that Kelly will be out there trying for a new PR before long. She's considering the Blue Bell, but she and her husband are leaving on a cruise the following day and she's worried about doing an out-of-town race that day.

Gotta go for now, but I'll come back later and catch up with a few more of you.

Marilyn

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd
hi all, want to run outside but work will have me busy until after dinner. Still way to many icy patches to run at night. In another few weeks will be running at night. I can't wait. I will try to run an hour at the gym.

sheila - I'm right with you with the age. Those songs look current to me as well.

laurel - I did not know that Chris Tomlin is a Houstonain. I love both Mercy Me and Lifehouse. When is your next race?

andahuff - great story with the fast run. Great race charting. Thanks for the pandora website, that is pretty cool.

Rachael - welcome. Great time for your first HM. Post often.

jeff - I'm with you on the motivation. Going to the gym again tonight is not easy to do. Hopefully you get back in the groove. I see 7 miles in an hour great run, that is what I'm trying for tonight, hopefully I'm up for it.

krugg234 - nothing like spoiling yourself. I'd take the garmin first. The other option is to get the ipod nano and get the plus+ sensor which will track your speed and distance. My DD love that IPOD+.

mary - nice playlist. Will the streets be ready for that race?

cara - good to hear from you. good run again. I'm not sure on the speed run. You will do great either way. That kitchen sounds like it is going to be a masterpiece.

misswendy - happy b-day!!!! Welcome to the 40's. Great run this AM. We are sad up here with the Brett Favre retirement. He must have been saving the announcement for your 40th b-day.

off to the gym after I finish up with work. check in later.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

Good run today - I have been running at 5.5 mph on the treadmill I decided to pick up the pace to 5.7 for the first mile or so to see how it felt - I ended up running the full 5 miles at 5.7 so that felt pretty good ! Got a big wave and cute grin from my EC as I was leaving.

Happy 4-0 MissWendy ! I can`t wait to tell my trainer that my running friend thinks she demonic ! you are right - she is - tiny and deadly ! I laughed so hard at your post to andahuff ! Do you like TSO too ? I have to say I had never heard of them but my room mate knows half the band members and the director so he has got us tickets for the show for the past 2 years and all the CDs for free !

Andahuff - yup coolest race results for sure - print them out and kep them with your race bib

kev .. cop out on the shouts !

Jeff - good job on your run

runjr - remember our motto - better a gym day than a couch day !

.. can this login get any worse ....

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

Hi everyone, still raining here today so I did a 50 min. video.

anahuff--thats so funny. I can just see you trying to get back in the house before anyone saw you.

rachel--welcome to the group

jeffrw--enjoy your rest day, sounds like your body needs it.

mary--crazy little thing called love is a good one. I had forgotten about that one.

spicegeek--hope your run went ok

misswendy--happy birthday

kevin--how'd the hill run go?

marilyn--I'm doing the indy 500 mini on May 3rd. They also have a 5k. I'm looking forward to getting away for the weekend

spicegeek--glad you had a good run and some EC

well talk to everyone later.

Re: 1/2 Marathon Trainers, Week of Mar 2nd

hi all, this was a difficult run. Pushed out 60 minutes and 7.12 miles. Tomorrow will be a slower run and cross train.

jeff - thanks for the push. You set the bar on your TM run. I am really getting tired of the TM.

spicegeek - yes it was a better day at the gym than a couch day. Great run for you. You are getting closer everyday to the pre-injury state. You always run faster when there is EC around.

sheila - great workout. Have you found the videos to help with your running? What type is it? I will start to look for a fall run somewhere for the group to potentially run.

marilyn - you are racing a lot of races. That is great. I think having fun is the most important part of racing.

misswendy - keep the 40th celebration at least for the week. Maybe March can be the birthday month. Glad you are spending it with DH.

andahuff - hope you are hitting the books!

joe - did you run today?

take care all.
