My week last week included my pre-marathon half marathon which resulted in a nice personal best. The conditions were pretty good, a bit windy but the majority of the course is quite sheltered so it didn't really matter. I had 3 goals before the race, sub 1:25, consistent splits, and to finish strong (sub 20 for the last 5k), and I managed them all, so I was very happy with that.
I need to pick the mileage up a bit this week as the last couple have drifted down into the mid 30's, my IT band problems seem to be minimal at present, so I'm hoping to up it to the mid 40's this week, including my second 20 miler.
It's 5 & 1/2 weeks to the London & I'm off to South Africa on Saturday for 3 weeks! Bad timing (the trip was confirmed before my marathon entry was), but I'll have to keep my training up while I'm there. I'm on safari for a few days next week, so I suspect running may be out of the question, but we'll see! Warm weather training for my first marathon - I feel quite the pro!
My last week:
Weds - 10.5 miles @ 7:40p (with 3 x 1.18m laps @ 6:17, 6:22, 6:24)
Thurs - 4.1 miles @ 7:00p
Fri - 4 miles @ 8:40p
Sat - 3.65 miles @ 7:30p
Sun - Reading Half Marathon, 1:24:45 (average 6:28p)
Total: 35.35 miles
I hope your training is all going well state-side. Let's try and keep this thread alive somewhere, if not here, on runningahead......
