post marathon recovery

I just finished my first ever LA Marathon last Sunday.. My thighs are very sore. What is the efficient way to recvover quickly? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Pay close attention to eating well, stretch every morning and night and do some sort of active recovery like biking or swimming

I'd say you should be fine to swim because of its non-impact nature. Biking is much the same, but introduce when you feel you're ready--just nice and easy rides to break up that built up tension and clear it out of your system--that's why it's important to eat really well and drink lots of h2o too.

While it is absolutely no fun, sit in an ice bath for 20 minutes a day until the soreness is gone. The cold water will decrease swelling and bring blood into your legs to promote healing of broken down muscle fibers.
