Re: I need a group injury update!
Hey Nita! Hip is still a little sore here, but doing worlds better thanks to PT. My pelvic bone shifted or something after my accident, and was causing all my troubles, but now things are back in order and I've finished with therapy. Going back to dojo tonight for the first time in a few weeks. should be fun.
Sweet! Its a signature!

Re: I need a group injury update!
Sorry to hear about your plantar, fishmagic. Glad Chris is recovering and is ready to go kick people. Apparently Jerry has a job where he actually has to spend his time working. What fun is that? He ran 17 miles recently though so I guess he isn't injured.

Re: I need a group injury update!
Jimmy, leave it to you to take advantage of Jerry's busy-ness at work to pass him...
I just registered for Decatur, so I'll bring the Shiner for the BBQ post-race. Don't worry, I can't drink more than two and then have to drive home. However, if I can get my husband to come with me and drive me home... Kevyn is in for sure too. Should be fun. Assuming I don't trip on a cow patty and break my ankle before CMM.
Thanks for the updates, everyone. Sara, it would be awesome if you and/or Holly could still do the half with Lee at least. But I am thrilled you'll be there with us either way. Seriously, what's a four-hour run, considering we'll be there a couple or three days? Looking forward to the reunion!
P.S. Obviously it would take getting hit by a train to keep Toby down. WTH? Is he a real person?
The other Jerry (me) will be there too. I am an afterthought, but i will be there. My sister lives in Nashville. My bride is still undecided. happy and injury-free running, everyone. Cheers, Jerry or JX47 first or Jeremiah. I am going to convert to jeremiah just to keep the jerry's apart. Cheers!

Hi Nita!
Um, I feel wonderful!
Had a great 6 miler this evening in warm weather (finally) and a light rain. If you like pina coladas...

Re: I need a group injury update!
Ron, I am sooo glad you're feeling wonderful! (or at least were last night)
Fish, sorry about your plantar fasc... whatever. Are you doing anything to fix it? What can be done? I keep hearing commercials on the radio about some insoles that cure it?
Jeremiah/Jerry, you are NOT an afterthought! You're part of the suck-it-up gang! Can't wait to see you at the after/before/in-between parties!
Chris, hope the dojo didn't hurt your mojo. You're probably just not feeling any pain because of the new girl
Omi/Charlotte, please tell us your knee is much better today and you're going for a short run and/or ski to try it out!
Everyone take care and get well!!! I"m trying to talk myself into turning of the computer for a while and trying to get six miles in. I'm feeling great too, Ron, not a single sore ankle since I got my new shoes last week. Woo-hoo!

Re: I need a group injury update!
Nita, I'm so happy that your ankle is great. Have yourself a happy run. The knee feels better today (still sore, but better) and I'll be doing a short run tomorrow. Thought I'd give it one more day, those knees have to hopefully last me a long time and when the dam things are sore a lot of the good stuff in life goes out the window, things like running, skiing and biking. So as I tell everyone, listen to your body, and I better do that myself as well.
Fish, someone was telling me that they wear a night brace for plantar fasciitis and that it really helps.

Re: I need a group injury update!
Well, cr@p, got dressed and walking out the door and then a client e-mailed needing a transcript ASAP that I haven't even started on. So here I am back at my computer, working away, in my running clothes... And it's my husband's birthday, so I have to stop and take him to lunch. I may never get to run at this rate. Between soccer practice, cheerleader tryouts, track meets... when is the time for ME? Waaaahh...
I know what you mean, Omi, gotta take care of those body parts if theyr'e going to last us another 40 years (or 50 for me ) I'm so inspired by my new Runner's World magazine, the article on running through the ages, that woman in there at 85 who started running in her late 70s and has ran four marathons. She looks amazing too. Wow, making me feel like a wimp. Maybe I'll have time to run when I get 70 and have no kids around

Re: I need a group injury update!
Nita, hopefully the kids will be able to fend for themselves long before you turn 70. Did you get a new pair of the same brand/model shoes or did you try something different? I get a kick out of reading about 70-year-olds running and then thinking that in 10 years that will be me! Chronologically at least. When I was a kid growing up 60 seemed ancient and 60-year-old people looked old. The fact is that back then a lot of people didn't live much past 60. Now we're living longer and being active and vital much later in life. I'm looking forward to it.
Lenz's Law is a special case of Le Chatelier's principle: Any change in status quo prompts an opposing reaction in the responding system. I like that one better.

Re: I need a group injury update!
I got the same ones, Len. The Gel Nimbus 9. I had ordered them a couple of weeks ago. But as soon as CMM is over, I'm going to get myself a pair of Saucony's and some Adidas that I found in the magazine also and experiment a little before MCM.
I feel the same way about 50. When I was growing up, 50 was soooo old, people didn't run down the street when they were 50! Well, they do now. At least this one will be in a few short years. I look forward to staying active and vital for lots more years too! 85! She's 85! Heck, I've got 40 years of running ahead of me!
Yeah, I'm hoping (well, not really) my kids won't need me so much in another five years. My husband, I think it's too late for me to make him independent. I am an enabler. I admit it.
Oops, got to get back to work! I needed a brain break. Since I can't find time for a running break.

Re: I need a group injury update!
Ok guys, years ago, anyone over 30 seemed ancient, then it was anyone over 40, 50, and 60. Now I'm at the point where 70 seems really young, and 80 really isn't that old. It's amazing how one's perspective changes over the years. And hopefully we're all still running when we're really not that old.

Re: I need a group injury update!
OK, my injury update:
NOTHING TO ADD! WOO HOO! Running strong. Regular aches and pains after a long run that seem to go away overnight.
Shoe report: Been running mostly in the Asics Nimbus VIII. These shoes ROCK! The 1120's and the 2110's are still fine but I really like the Nimbus. And I found out that my high tech Asics socks (Kinsei? Kayano? can't remember) really don't help. I've used them in most of my long runs and even in my marathons and half marathons but what I've found out when I had to use my backup coolmax "regular" Starter and New Balance socks is that the other socks actually offer more cushion and subsequently more comfort over the long haul. I have 220+ miles on the first pair of Nimbus and 90 on the 1120s. I'll definitely be running the CMM in the Nimbus.
No knee straps for me!
Obsessed with running and racing. It's all about the bling, baby! Suck it up and RUN!

Enjoy the Nimbus 8's the 9's are a bit more stiff in my honest opinion. Glad to hear you have no injury's. I don't either as of now other then my ego because I am sick and had to pay money to not run.

Hey Jimmy, I hope you're feeling better soon and if you need to take a month or so off (say, until April 26th) so I can catch up to you, that's just fine with me.
Hang in there. You'll be drinkin' beer and singin' country songs soon enough!
