Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR

Hooray for FreeRunner! Wow - this race sure sounded like a different experience from the last one, and soooo many people! It's great you finished even though your calves were hurting. Play around the forums - someone must have good exercise advice for those. I won't see my trainer for a few weeks because he is on vacation - but if you haven't found anything by St. Patrick's day let me know and I will ask him for exercises for you. Too bad that lady was so brutal - but I guess you're gonna find people like that everywhere. Maybe she felt really guilty later and couldn't enjoy the party because she spent the whole time looking for you to apologize :^0

I will do W5D2 tomorrow - nothing special to report, still plodding along...

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR

Hey Fleetfooters,

Hope its ok that I join in here...Mr. Tremor and I seemed to be the only ones on the other OHR thread.

I'm on Week 3 Day 2 and finally completed a full 30 minute run with 10 minute warmup and cooldown. I was having trouble pushing myself to complete the full 30 minutes. I know its all mind games cuz I went in telling myself that I could do it and wasn't going to let myself stop. I didn't have any problems but was watching the clock for the last 5 minutes of the run and was happy to start the cool down.

I need to go through and read all the post.

Carla

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR
Welcome to the group, Carla! If you read through our past posts, you'll see that we hit the 30 minute plateau too and really had to fight through it. The good news is that once you're out the other side running becomes fun again. I will do W5D3 tomorrow and really am enjoying the added time.

Speaking of working through OHR - now that we are hitting the halfway point, what is everyone doing next? I have no plans to try for a half marathon - heck I'm still waiting to sign up for a 5K! What kind of schedule should we keep after we are done with this?

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR

Good Morning Ya'll!

Welcome to the group Carla! B-) I know Keikirunner and I are so glad that so many of you had joined us because we thought back in (I think) Jan or early Feb that we would have to try and find another group! What an awesome group of people!

Well ya'll, I have decided to take the week off to let my calves rest. They are still hurting even walking up and down a flight of stairs! I started to take a multi-vitamin and something else for my muscles ( I think magisium). I will start again hopefully on Saturday and start again with week 7.

VG runner: the only plans that I have right now are too finish a 5K in less then 35 mins before August and start to prepare for a 10K for Dec. I am going to try and increase my mileage so that eventually my time will also speed up. What are you running now? How many mins/mile? Again, my varies on the road and the treadmill. I am just curious to see if I am way slow or right up there with everyone! :D

Keikirunner: Haven't heard much from you lately. How is the snow and ice up there? Are you able to run outside some more or are you staying in and using the ellipitical?

lso and rualrunner: Where are you???? lso how is your husband doing running now?

Mr. Tremor: I know you are getting excited about your race, I am excited for you! You will do great! We will all be cheering you on.

Well all, Happy Thursday to ya! run like the wind! :^0

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR

I promise I haven't fell off the face of the earth just super busy. My husband started the C25k and has had problems with one of his calves from the get go. He has rested completely but as soon as he runs again the problem returns. He thinks it is a tendon not the actual muscle but I think I'll try to get him to his multi and eat more bananas. Freerunner let me know if the magnesium helps.

I'm heading down to the river to run after work and I'm making up the circuit weight training class that I missed yesterday. I also registered for a Yoga class next term. I'm hoping the combination of the weight training and Yoga will help my running.

I still haven't started increasing my minutes from 30. I just want to make sure that I can run this 5k the weekend after next. I meant to run the course last weekend but I never go to it. So after I run the 5k I'll start on the time increase for OHR.

I will try to post more later. Happy running everyone!!

Layla

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR
Hi girls and Senor Tremor! Hope everyone has a fun weekend planned! I finished W5 today and was VERY happy. The 38 minutes felt great and I could have kept going - hope it continues into next week. The funny part is that I went to a chiropractic appointment before my run (my first) because I had noticed that my hips seemed a little uneven. He told me it was no big deal and that he'll get me put back together ( I already can tell a difference) but then he told me I probably should not run - I should stick to the elliptical - NO WAY!!!!! Years ago I rolled a quad on myself and crushed my tibial plateau. He said since I had it rebuilt , its days were numbered and running was not helping. I know I'm a runner now because I couldn't even consider giving it up. I will just do lots of exercises and be good about taking all the joint suppliments. My body is finally becoming the shape I want, I feel great and all the elliptical ever gave me was a big bum X-( .

Oh, and FreeRunner I checked my time today and I made the 3.1 miles in a little over 37 minutes - so I'm no speed demon!

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR

Hello all, i'm still around. I have been keeping up witht the posts but haven't has time to write myself. Very busy with work not much time for running. I have been going to areobic etc. but no running recently. I wanted to wait until I was running again to post but I think I need to post to get some motivation back. I plan to run on the weekend and I am very nervous about where I will be at in terms of tie I can run for. Will give it my best shot and let you all nkow how it goes!

It is great to have some new members of the group, I think we help each other a lot.

Happy running!

Re: Fleetfoot Chicas--OHR

Morning Fleetfooters,

Thanks for all the welcomes and I really appreciate you
letting me join in on your group. It really makes a difference for me to have a
group to report to. After reading all
the post, I can tell that this is a very supportive bunch and I hope that I can
contribute a little too.

W3D3 stomped, Mr. Tremor!
I was excited about doing it and knew that I could…you know the mindset
thingy…and I didn’t have any problems.
Instead of watching the clock the last 5 min, I only watched in the last
3 min. Ok I have to confess here that I
jog on a treadmill at the YMCA (too cold outside) and I walk at 3.5 and jog at
4.5…no one will call me speedy. But let
me tell you my face is red and I am sweating…my eyes are even bloodshot. What do you think that means?

This is the 3^rd^ time for me to graduate from the
C25K but I never continued on with another program and lost the endurance. This time I plan to continue jogging and will
eventually run outside again.

There is a Bridge the Gap Run (5k, 10k, half) here on April
12 I’m considering doing the 5k. You
actually run over 2 bridges over the Mississippi
on the 5k and 3 bridges on the others. I
don’t know sounds kinda freaky.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Run on,

Carla
