Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 3-9
good morning!

Hi Gatorgirl! I live nearby in St petersburg over the skyway bridge.Indeed the wind has been furious.I am trying to find my way back into the dedication and excitement that running brings into our life.I am really struggling with the program .I have been doing core but I lost at first then I gained and now plateau.

I hope the weather will be better soon and then we will complain about the heat and humidity.I have been in Fla over 40 yrs.I do prefer the heat over this cold weather.

to all of you running today have a safe wonderful run
Gillou

Susanna Foo's was FABULOUS! FABULOUS! FABULOUS! - I ended up buying two if her cookbooks as we left the restaurant. I can't wait to give the recipes a try. I may have to make some changes to lessen the number of points but if Chinese food at home came out 1/2 as good as in her restaurant, it would be great!

Thin - I do love Ellie Krieger. It is funny - before I started WW, I wouldn't even watch her show. Now I don't watch much of Paula Deen or The Barefoot Contessa because I swear you can gain weight just by seeing what they make.

Sharon - Are you doing the Boardwalk Run? Are you nearby? I went and looked at the web page. I am interested. I wonder if I could start out doing the 5K with the thought that I would do the 10 miler if I was able. I haven't even done a 5 mile race, yet. Someone once told me that if you can run 75% of the distance before the race, you can complete the whole race. I haven't ever run 7.5 miles. I have a cousin and a high school friend that work in Atlantic City. The only drawback is that we have another Philadelphia Orchestra Concert that night. There is more than enough time between the two events but it would take a little coordination.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 3-9

OK...Here's my race report from yesterday's 30th Runnin' of the Green (Island) 4 miler

Got up at 8am. Rained all night and appeared to have stopped, which was definately a good thing, since the morning forcast had been for showers/sleet. Temperature was 35. Had a banana and found an old Siena Shirt and Sweatshirt that were fittingly green to put on. Although I did decide that I was going to bring a jacket in case it started raining. As I was leaving the house, noticed that it was now POURING! The race is only about 10-15 minutes from my house, so I went and miraculously as I pulled up to park, it was not raining in Green Island. All the race stuff was set up. Got my bib and T-shirt (a crazy neon yellow color!) and went back to the car to drop stuff off. Ran a bit and stretched and then sat in the car for a bit to warm up. Decided on wearing the jacket even though it wasn't raining yet. There were about 450 people in the race from what I could tell numberwise. Went to the start and they started promptly at 10am.

With the help of my garmin, I managed to keep a good pace just around 10 minutes for the first mile. I was pleasantly surprised that the course was basically flat with a couple of nice downhill spots. They had clocks at each mile marker, and there were lots of people in the streets cheering us on. Just after the two mile marker was the water station, and I hit the two mile mark just under 20 minutes, so that mile was a bit faster. I was still feeling good, although I did feel like I had a lot of layers on. I decided to walk through the water station so I could actually drink. 3rd mile was also pretty good, which I ran just over 10 minutes, so I definately can say I was pretty consistant. At the 3rd mile marker, there was a guy with a violin and his truck open. HE was standing on the sidewalk playing, with irish music blasting from his speakers. It was Hair of the Dog and the song was Mary Mac, which I love! That gave me a bit of motivation. The last mile was hard, as my legs were getting tired and I really felt like I had too many layers on. They were feeling very heavy. I've been running 4-5 miles pretty consistantly, but it's been on the treadmill and I think that's where I got into the problem with the last mile. Anyway, ended up finishing strong with a total time of 40:49 (officially). My watch had me at 40:30. So that was about 4 minutes faster than my Disney 4 mile race from October, which I can definately say was because I was more consistant and didn't go out to fast. Lots of bananas and oranges afterward (they even had cookies!),but unfortunately they ran out of plain water bottles and the only drink left was some kind of version of vitamin water, which had too many calories, so I waited until I got to the car for my propel that I had brought just in case.

All and all a good race to run. Oh, and did I mention that just as I was finishing it started to rain! Could have done without the jacket after all!

Today is a lazy day, although I might try to motivate to go to the gym. Tonight I'm meeting friends from college for the big Siena game in Albany. So needless to say, I had to do laundry last night so I can wear the stuff again today! Catch up on personals later tonight so as not to make this any longer!

Cherbear - My daughter is the director of Women's Basketball Operations for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. She was the starting point guard for Marist and graduated last year. She is working the tournament - mens and womens. We had plans to be there but forgot about our Philadelphia Orchestra tickets. So instead we are listening to the Marist-Iona Women's game and Marist is about to win. Have fun at the game tonight.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 3-9
I have been in WW for 6 weeks but am on the 5th week since we got iced out one week. I was really pound I lost 2.6 last week but have gone back up. I am probably making the mistake of weighing every day. I think a lot of it is water retention. I am not a runner but I would love read all that all of you do. I am going through some testing right now from some chest pains on February 13th. So I am going to start out slowly with the walking. Hubby has a high school friend that ran in the Boston event and came in pretty good in his age group. We have, finally, had some lovely weather here today.B-) In fact, I am heading out the door right now with the two dogs for a starting walk.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 3-9

Cherbear- What a great race report!! I am running in the St. Patricks race in Kansas City next weekend.

We had signed up before my 3 week layoff. I went to run to day W2D1 thought I was dying. Also sore from a really light weight workout yesterday. Wow does my body go backwards quick. I am nervous about running 4 miles. I have not run that far since Super Bowl Sunday. The last time I really ran.

While we are in KC we will be staying on the plaza. No exactly WW friendly. Okay the child needs his fouth meal of the day.....how can he eat like that and stay so skinny?

Weight Watchers Runners
Hi all! I just found this group when I logged in to sign up for a Super Sprint Triathlon (Lake of the Pines in Auburn, CA). I have lost 95 pounds on WW (still have about 15 to go) and signed up for the San Francisco 1st Half Marathon. Have any of you done this or are doing it this year? I'm pretty nervous, because my training hasn't been going well, but I'm hoping with the longer days, my husband will get home before it's too dark and watch the kids. If you have run this race, how are the hills? Any good training advice? I am planning to drive the route soon just to check it out and see what I'm up against : ) Thanks all for your help, and I'm glad I found this group!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners
New2tri welcome to the Weight Watchers Runners board. Congrats on your weight loss that is amazing. I joined WW back in September and have lost 52 lbs so far. Still have about that much to go, but I'll get there. I started the C25K in October and am signed up to run my first 5K this upcoming Saturday. The idea of a sprint tri really intrigues me and I've actually been reading a couple of books on Tri's. This is a great group and a lot of people at different places in their running. Even some folks who can probably offer up some advice on your marathon training but why don't you go and repost on this weeks board as you actually posted on our last weeks board and I'm afraid some folks will miss reading your post. Hope to see you over on the other board :)
