Congratulatins Beachbum!! How wonderful that you finished!

I had a cold that was sapping some of my strength so I took almost two weeks and slowed things down and did intervals. Yesterday I did a full 28 min, a week 8 run. I'll do the same on Friday, or if I'm feeling good I'll move it to 30 min and call it wk 9.

I can't believe how slow I am! In the 28 min I only did about 2 miles! I never get out of breath. I guess that means I'm not running fast enough?

So here you are. i just posted in the week 8 thread. I have been searching high and low for you guys. I am so thrilled that I have 1 more run and I will have completed the c25k program. I am highly leaning towards the Hal Higdon training program but after eading some of your posts, I think that I might repeat week 9 may be through the month of march and then move on. My first 5k is April 20 and want to be ready. My time is still slow. 30 mins of running still just barely get me a little over 2 miles. Any suggestions to help prepare me would be appreciated.

Great job dimpelz! I don't know how to run faster either....I just talk to myself, sometimes I'll just think "hurry, hurry, hurry, go, go, go," etc it sounds dumb but it works for me. I run slower in the beginning and speed it up once I see the 'finish line' which for me is a cul-de-sac that I can see from about 1/4 a mile away. I push myself the entire run. I feel like maybe I'm not breathing right, or maybe my form is wrong....but I just go, go, go.....and I figure I'll figure it out as I get better. ?

Happy Birthday FeelSoGood! I ran w9/d2 last night and kicked so much butt! It was AWESOME! I could have kept going. I will keep on running w9 for about 2 weeks at which point I should be gaining speed. Bad news-it looks like we may not be able to do 9/3 until Sunday! With any luck we might just be able to do it tomorrow before other obligations ALL WEEKEND! I thought weekends were supposed to be relaxing! Sheesh! :) Anyway-as I heard someone on these boards say the other day-please give me some cheese with my whine! LOL! I'm so proud to really be A FINISHER!

Beachbum - Congratulations on finishing C25K!! You rock!
FeelsSoGood - Happy Birthday - you certainly deserve a toast for being a FINISHER!
Drew - Hope you're feeling better soon!

I did W9/D1 yesterday and I acutally enjoyed it (well most of it - the last few minutes were killer!!) I'm beginning to feel like this is something I could do long term. I am looking forward to my runs and am pleased with how much better my body is feeling.

Good Luck Finishers - MomInMN

Thank you all for wishing me a HB! That was so nice.

I can't wait till the weekend to run outside again. I wonder if I should try the street. I have been running on an unevern dirt trail. The street always feels like it's pulling me down and hurts my shins, but I wil have to learn to run that way if I am going to do a 5 k somewhere as they are mostly on blacktop of cement.

I seriously cannot believe we are all at 5k...it really wasnt that bad. You gotta love how you look too! :)

I just bought a pair of Nike Shox running shoes. They feel so awkward. I hope I can run in these things, I was so used to my good ol faithfuls that the new ones feel strange. But I had to do something as the old ones had no more support left, I am just afraid they will hurt or something. I am so used to wearing heels that everytime I tried a shoe on it felt like the heel was lower than the toe and I have a really high arch.

Has anyone purchased new shoes in the middle of all this training?

ps> I too feel like I am not breathing right...and it IS a struglle and a push the whole time. I don't have that "easy" run that I read about. maybe I am doing something wrong. I have a heart murmer...so maye that's why I feel like that.

Hello Finishers!

I did W9/D2 today and it felt great! I had to talk myself into starting, but once I got going, it was pretty easy. For the last two runs I've watched the tv instead of listening to my ipod and I kind of like it better. Not really sure what I'll do once I start running outside!!

Good luck to all of you - we are FINISHERS!!

Let me tell you..good shoes make all the difference. I cant wait to get to 10k now. Is there a program from 5 to 10K we can all work on?

I heard on the podcast that e was working on that 5-10k. Is it around yet?
