A mysterious coach and windsurfer from Hood River, Oregon, known only as "Jerry" has offered to teach marathoners his revolutionary technique of swinging arms only on alternate strides, saving energy enough to speed runners by 20-30%, according to his calculations.

Spira, Injinji, and Yaktrax have inspired Adidas' new line of lightweight alloy footwear with coils wrapping each toe connecting to  larger "Füßespringen" providing traction, energy return, and ventilation topped only by barefoot running.  TSA so far has had no comment on security requirements for the metallic but nearly transparent and laceless footware.  Putting them in microwave ovens and wearing them in thunderstorms are discouraged in Adidas' users' guide.

Nike Air Atmos Available April 1

Nike's long-awaited "green line" of environmentally friendly running shoes will premier with the Air Atmos, reportedly containing no raw materials, requiring no energy to produce, and leaving no landfill waste after use.  Testers have raved about the light weight, feel for the road, and ventilation.  Several, however, have felt that cushioning and support were less than expected in a $149.95 shoe, and some have found invisibility limits their ability to adjust the shoe optimally.

When I connected this time I couldn't get a "Login" button.  I went to read a post and used the "Login to reply" button to login.

    Missing Cones in New York

Officials in Forest City and Carbondale, PA, were jubilant to learn theat the FBI had located their missing orange cones from the Steamtown Marathon course in New York, "gifts" to at least three NY state marathons from the Spitzer administration, members of which had snatched them from the course as runners passed before spiriting them across the state line in unmarked vans.  Staffers at the St. Joseph's Center in Scranton describe the findings as an answer to prayers.

Same here.  No login button but went through the "login to reply" which used to take you to the reply window but now just lets you log in.

Remember, this is beta software. . .  and probably will be forever.

Active.com, brought to you through the inspiration of Microsoft software distribution techniques where our motto is "Why pay testers when we can have our end users figure out what's wrong?"

(No offense to the people actually posting here from Active.com... I'm just not impressed with the software and the obvious carelessness behind its distribution.)

The Tasty Baking Company announced a new high carbohydrate snack food line aimed specifically at marathoners.  Preliminary tests have shown enhanced pace and endurance, sometimes pushing "the wall" to 28 miles.  Officials said distribution would be limited to Philadelphia area marathoners at all levels, since "we're a Philly company, why should it benefit anyone else?"

So much for the city of brotherly love. . .

I just want to know what the half-life of the snack food will be and will it be longer than a Twinkie from our friends at Hostess.
