Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23

Hoppy Easter Everyone!

I have much to do but wanted to get on and wish everyone a really nice holiday. I filled eggs last night and had several malted milk eggs which were way better than I remembered - I wish I had your experience Bo :_| . Unfortunately, on my long run days I struggle with feelings of entitlement but hopefully the 2100 calories my Garmin said that I burned will compensate - fingers crossed. Today I am in control of the menu which is great and I will have a great core dinner. I can easily resist the rolls my DH had me buy and I am making a SF FF Chocolate Pudding Pie with FF cool - whip as one dessert option. If I can keep away from the white wine all should be well ;)

Bo - I love the blue dress. You are very smart to have made that purchase - it looks crazy good on you! I see that dress on a cruise or at a nice restaurant with DH when he gets back!

Sizing is a funny thing. I have a sister who is an inch shorter than me but must way about 260 (roughly 100 lbs more than me!) and wears a size smaller pant than I do. True story. She carries all her weight in her chest and shoulders/belly and I carry mine in my butt. Would I trade bodies to wear that smaller size pants? Not in a million/kazillion years. That is what I try to keep in mind when people say I wear this size or that size.

Gotta go and get preparations done! Colleen

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23

On Friday I had a mammogram - just routine, in preparation for an implant to make me symmetrical again - after a mastectomy on one side and a reduction on the other and a lot of weight loss. At any rate, the routine mammogram showed signs of calcification. They want me to come back in 6 months. I don't know what will happen with the implant surgery. My breast cancer 7 years ago showed up as calcifications. I am trying to stay calm and positive. But trying to stay in control on the outside, allowed me to eat like a pig yesterday. I must have had 40 caramel nips, 4 Irish potatoes (coconut cream candies rolled in cinnamon), WW Ice cream and half a tub of FF Cool Whip. My scale went up 3.1 pounds. I am back on plan today. I got up at 7 and went immediately to the treadmill where I ran my longest distance yet - 6.5 miles! 1001 calories burned. I doubt if that makes up for what I ate yesterday, but it is a start. I am going to try to get my DH to walk again today. And even though that is slow, it is still something better than eating. Have a Happy Holiday!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23

Bo-you look great in both dresses!

Shannon- I am 5"7 and 168 pounds and can wear a 12 in Ann Taylor Bo is so right the sizes are weird and if I wear control top hose I can sometimes make into 10 ...so I think its more about are you happy in YOUR skin than a size?? I am 18 pounds overweight. Back in the day I wore a size 4-6 and weighed 145 but with my tallness everything was too short!!

Happy Easter ladies, after the company leaves I have a short 20 mins planned (back on the C25k still)

Have a great day!

Here are my BEFORE and NOWpictures. I was going to have my NOW picture from today but I really don't like how it came out so instead we have BEFORE (In Greece - June 2006):

And me NOW (February 1, 2008 - my 50th birthday):

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23

Happy Easter everyone...hope you have all had a wonderful holiday weekend. I worked today (actually still at work), but it was a beautiful day outside and spring is definitely in the air. Things in my world are going well, just extremely busy. A lot of going back and forth between Bryce and Zion but at least it's a pretty drive ;) Tomorrow I start week 2 of my 10K training plan. Still got a couple of weeks before I hit unfamiliar territory with milage. It should be interesting to see how it goes.

Redfoxfan your pictures are amazing. Thanks for sharing. Too bad today's pictures didn't turn out well, as it would have been nice to see that new easter dress you bought.

Bo you look great in both dresses, but the blue one is definitely more you. Could you wear the gray one to the wedding and then change into the blue one for the reception? ?:| Might not be good though if you were changing more than the bride..LOL. The cadbury mini eggs are my favorite and one of my managers bought me the family size bag!!! What was she thinking??? It's still unopened on my counter but I need to give it away or something or I'll end up devouring the whole thing. You must be a jack of all trades if you know where to even begin to fix a furnace!!

Stillpluggin if I were putting in the miles that you were putting in I would probably struggle with feeling entitled to eat things I shouldn't as well. I wish I were at your house tonight for a yummy core Easter dinner and some chocolate pie! :D

Happy sorry you had a tough few days of not being on plan. Hope you are back on track now. Thanks for adding my races to the list. What are you making yummy for this week's lunches? I need some new ideas!

Shannon congrats on being down at the scale! If I were you I wouldn't worry about size too much as I think you look great right where you are at now. NICE TOY by the way :D Have you decided on the Kanab 10K?

Leany hope you are having a wonderful vacation and enjoying your time with the family!!

Nhmommy hope you are doing well. Remind me again when you are going to be in St. George. I think around the 1st. If so I have to be in St. George the afternoon of the 2nd and if it works for you that might work best for me for a dinner date. Let me know! Hope we get to meet up :)

Mel, Thinindisguise, Maxie, Cherbear, Dan and everyone else hope you are all having a great holiday weekend and check in with us soon.

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23
Happy Easter!
Guess it's confession time... I've been a bad, bad girl. I'm talking ice cream (lots of it), cake, chocolate, chips & cheesy salsa, peeps, more chocolate, alcohol and to top it all off, I have not run since Wednesday! yikes!! I'm blaming it on PMS but really it's just laziness :( so I am jumping back on the WW wagon first thing in the morning with a 5 mile run, tracking my food and will go to WI this week & face the scale. I have to WI this week since it's the last week of the month & I have put it off because I don't want to see what it says.

I finally got caught up on all the posts since Thursday & I responded to a lot, so sorry if I missed you but I started this earlier today, had to leave for church & Easter gathering & now it's 10pm at night & finally getting back to the thread. amazing how fast the day went by!

I have to say that I am proud of how the Easter bunny filled the children's baskets this year ;) They got some peeps to share, 2 lollipops each and the rest was non-food items. So glad that bunny didn't overload them on junk food because they got tons of it from other family members & school parties. I think he'll be making a new tradition of non-food baskets each year:)

shannon - so cool that you got to meet lifentheparks! and I'm jealous that your "girls" shrunk... that's the one thing that I didn't lose with the weight loss, but I keep hoping! LOL glad you were able to finally fit into a size 10... it's amazing how a little number can affect how you feel about things. I had a friend offer to give me a running skirt that was too big on her, it was a size Medium & I said "oh, I need a small or extra-small" and the look on her face was like "no way are you smaller than me" then a few minutes later & we are farther apart & walking to our cars outside the preschool (and surrounded by lots of other moms) she yells "what size DO you wear?" and I was kind of embarrassed but also glad I could say "size 4" and I could tell she didn't believe me, heck I have a hard enough time believing it myself. anyway... I still keep thinking of that episode because I thought it was pretty tacky for her to ask me across a crowded parking lot what size pants I wear. I love mapmyrun too :) that is a seriously cool new toy!

Bodacious - I completely agree with you on the big cut size 4... there is no way I am really a size 4 but if I get anything bigger it falls off. We are just about the same size, I am 5'3" and on a good day 136 but lately closer to 139. what is your goal weight that you are working towards? I would like to be 128 & that's what I am shooting for... hope I can get there some day! I love Cadbury eggs too... just 4 pts for one. LOL I love the blue dress much more than the gray (sorry to your future DIL) The blue is WAY sexier & looks so good on you. The gray is kinda dowdy & the bow... good call on removing that thing! LOL have to ask - are those slippers under your TV in the pic?!

lifentheparks - yeah!! so glad your Mom is OK! congrats on the weight loss! I totally understand about the bra size too. I have gone from a 40D to 36D but would much rather be a C. I went & got measured too & yep, still a D. LOL

redfoxfan - LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the before & after pictures!! You look GREAT!!! thank you also for posting them, they really help to inspire me. congrats on your weight loss... wow, 129.2 is awesome! You will definitely be in my prayers that the calcification is nothing & all will be ok. good for you to hop on the TM & get right back on plan & congrats on making it 6.5 miles.

thisyear - how are you doing? still struggling? do you go to meetings? I find sometimes just going to a WW meeting & listening that I get encouraged to jump back on the wagon. ok... can you tell that I write my posts as I am reading. just read your next post & you said that you are now tracking & going back to meetings. well, I am jumping on that wagon with you tomorrow!

happy - isn't it funny how when we are being "bad" that we also don't check in here... it's like we know it's good for us but we insist on continuing to do bad things for ourselves.

Colleen - congrats on your 15 mile run & your HUGE loss at WI!!! so close to lifetime goal!

my favorite sunscreen is by Ocean Potion - I use the kids spray for my children & I use the lotion for me... it goes on easy, is light & smells wonderful. Plus it's cruelty free, PABA-free & hypo-allergenic.

off to read in bed for a bit & get up early for my run. Melanie

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23
Evening all :)

Hope we all survived the Easter feasts and that those feasts were not chocolate buffets :) I did pretty good today, my Sunday long run treat to myself was some almonds, I had to go buy a few from the bulk bins as I cannot have large packets of them in the house as even tho they are a superfood, they are a trigger food for me, once I start on them I cannot stop! My long run was not really that long tho, just 61/2 miles, I was tired to start with and probably dehydrated. I ran on the bike path that is along side the highway, the snow is mostly gone from there so that was good but I had a problem with dust. the sweepers have not started sweeping up the dust from the gravel the state puts down during the winter so the cars were stirring that up and it was a little breezy so the air was not good. I have also been thinking of electrolytes and how I will have to be replacing them especially once I start running in FL so I brought some camelback hydration tabs to add to my water, I used one today as I carried water on my run and I think all it did was give me a sickly feeling in my tummy, I will try them again in case today was just a bad day but I may have to look for something different if I get the same effect. After my run I had my very first ever ice bath! I figured I would give it a go as being TOM time my legs were heavy and ached anyway so I figured it would not hurt. So I sat in the bath with a Runnersworld for distraction, turned on the tap and let the icy cold tundra water flow. Oh my! Brandy I was thinking of you and Pluggin too as I think you guys are the only two who have admitted to doing one so I felt like I was joining your club :) I sat there with my legs out and let the water fill until my thighs were under water then I made myself sit for 5 mins in the water and then pulled the plug and sat there watching my goosebumps quiver until it drained away. After I got in a hot shower...I wonder if the shower negated the ice bath effects??? Oh well it felt good!

Thanks for the dress comments guys, I will say the gray one looks so much better without the bow! I have decided to wear the blue one for my goal pics. The week I make goal I am going to get my hair done as my face all prettied up and I am going to get pics done of just me at my WW Goal I was just going to wear my best skinny jeans and my fav black shirt but now I will take my blue dress too.

Mel my WW goal is 135 but like you I think a personal goal of 128 sounds nice. The lowest I ever was in my adult life was 115 but I don't want to go near that as when I was that low in my 20's nobody thought I looked good, everyone said I looked drawn and sick. Yes they are slippers under my little TV :) I have 2 English Bulldogs and my son found these chunky Bulldog slippers which are very cute but I have to keep them there or my babies think they are fuzzy chew toys!

Redfox awesome pics! On all of our before pics I have seen posted the smiles have never been as big or as sweet as the after photos and yours is the same! You look awesome! I send you hugs, it is easy for me to say but try not to stress too much that will wear you down. It must be terrible news to hear for you because of your history and also very disappointing concerning your reconstruction. hopefully all will be well and six months will soon pass and you can go ahead and finish this healing process. My friend had a reconstruction last year, she had lost lots of weight on WW and they used some of the extra tissue from her belly so she actually got her tummy tucked at the same time which saved her $$$ on that.

Lifen someone else had told me today to change dresses at the wedding reception, great minds think alike :) What 10K training plan are you following?

Happy are you going to a meeting this week or just waiting till next Sunday? I can't decide what to do! I should find one really as I have missed so many recently.

K have to go prep for tomorrow, see you all in next week!

Re: Weight Watchers Runners - March 17-23

Good Morning All,

Had a great time yesterday with my family and was so busy with getting this and that I feel like I did well with my eating. I asked people to bring appetizers that were good choices. One sister brought the largest most amazing vegetable platter. So many different colored veggies and one light dip and one ff dip - perfect. We also had shrimp and a couple other not so point friendlys that I stayed away from.

The best part about yesterday was that I got two sisters interested in doing a 5K in June with their daughters (9 & 18). I answered questions about C25K and am sending them the info today. I am going to do this one with my son and we will run as far as he wants and then walk. I told my sisters to do the same. Train and walk when you need to. Its a start and I am hoping if I can get them "hooked" by doing one - who knows. I will keep my expectations low but the marathon training has opened their eyes to how I decided I wanted to do something and a year later I am going to do it. They were even talking about maybe taking 4/21 off from work and going to see the marathon.

Diane - hugs to you dealing with those feelings of uncertainty. I can't imagine how you must be feeling but getting it out on the treadmill vs. chowing is def. the way to go. Nice job with the 6.5! Woo-hooo. Hopefully hubby will continue to want to walk with you and some of your good habits will rub off on him! Amazing pictures! You look incredible and sooo different! Can you remember that person? I'm thinking you would not want to be her ever again. Thanks for posting - the pics are inspirational! I am so jealous that your chin looks so nice and tight. I had a full chin (like your first pic) and now that it is gone I feel like I have a "gobble-gobble". We were talking about that yesterday (my Mom has the same) and she said there's nothing you can do about that and I said sure there is I just need $6000 - LOL. Not really, but a girl can dream!

This year - Nice job getting back on the C25K. What week are you starting at? Did you start at the beginning again or pick up where you left off? Good luck - I know you can do it - THIS YEAR!! Next year you will have to change your name to LAST YEAR - LOL.

Happy - those darn malted eggs are so good. I emptied the bowls I set up around the house of m&m's, jelly beans and those eggs so I don't walk by them all day long. Of course a quick detour to my sons room and there goes a point here and there. I will be glad when its gone. My secret is not a secret that's for sure. I do really well when I (are you ready for this) actually follow the program!! LOL - I have weeks where I am faithful to a T and then I have weeks where I "watch it". My watching it weeks it either comes off in microscopic amounts or if I am feeling a bit to entitled creeps back up. I was pretty surprised that during the height of my training I had gone up 4 or so when I weighed in the week before. Pulling in the reins and eating core - thank goodness - got that off and then some. The last thing I want to do is drag extra pounds around for 26.2 miles! After I have a good week or two sometimes I go a bit overboard so that will be my challenge to not let my head think it can do what it wants! Fingers crossed - old habits die hard. Having the fridge stocked with good stuff is how I stay on track better as well. I will be shopping today to stock up on the fresh veggies and fruit. Seeing you at mile 19 would be so cool and yes, I don't think I would want to eat a cookie but you know there will be some that will :0

Life - I certainly had enough food to host more people and would have loved you here! Not sure exactly what I will do with the second spiral cut ham I have. Never even cut into it and its cooked. I am thinking that eating ham all week would not be in my best interest - LOL. Good luck with your training - exciting isn't it? I love having a training schedule on my fridge. It would be funny if you end up meeting Michelle before I do - LOL. We have been at races together and keep missing each other and probably live 8 miles apart.

Melanie - It seems like we all have weeks like that every now and then. Thank goodness the WW wagon comes by just when we need it - slows down and lets us jump back on! I do so much better when I go and WI. I tend to go faithfully for a month and then skip for a month and wish I had just kept going steady.

Bo - love those almonds too! I keep a small jar in the fridge and then count out 8 close the lid and walk away. For me they are not a red-light food though. I love them but the fridge won't call me back for seconds or thirds (like a pan of brownies will - LOL). Have you tried the G2 gatorade? It is very light tasting and light in points. I like that and propel black cherry. Not sure my tummy would handle those hydration tabs either.

Today I will be working on a newsletter and just chillin (well, bank and food shopping too) but for me thats a relaxing day. Hope you all have a good one. Coll
