Women's shorts question -- for women

Okay, I actually found some cute "running shorts," at a department store. They're Nike Dri-Fit, this mesh fabric. But THEY DON'T HAVE BUILT-IN PANTIES! I've never heard of such. so what are you supposed to wear under them?? One, regular under wear would suck because I'd end up with a wedgie, and plus I'd have panty lines and it just sounds generally uncomfortable. Are there "running panties" out there? Does anyone wear them? Or do I need to just send these back and buy some REAL running shorts?

This is going to sound a little weird, but Wal-Mart sells a type of panties that's a little like pantyhoes without the legs. They stay in place and there are no lines, and they're nice and breathable. The link is below for you, you might want to look into buying them:

I hope that helps!

Re: Women's shorts question -- for women

Hi Nita,

Underarmour makes running underwear. I have seen boy shorts and thong type.....the material is nice too. I have to agree that I could not run in shorts that have no liner.....I would have a wedgie the entire time. Nothing more annoying than that!!!! I have had the best bet with underarmour short...they don't ride up.

Good luck,

sandi

Hi Nita. I'm sure they have something like that out there, but I've never tried them. But...I have fallen in love with Target's running skorts. Have you tried these? They have built in lightweight stretchy shorts and they are super comfortable and cheap!! I don't know if they come in XS, but the Small is just a tad loose around the waist, but they still work. They are on sale online.

I know, I know, not my thread, suck it up!! I'm still chiming in... :P

I made the mistake of running in whittey tighties ONCE, it was a long run and let me tell you....I was hurting at the end. Talk about diaper rash or whatever you call it!!!

That's the best idea, Nita. Stick with shorts that come with the liner. I'll have to take a look at those Nike shorts. Let me know how you like them after your run.

p.s. doesn't everything look good on you?

Re: Women's shorts question -- for women
I know it's not the question, but I really like UA running shorts. My friend got me a pair of Adidas ones for the holidays which I like, but like you said, no liner, which means they are short run shorts. I was at REI yesterday and I almost got another pair.... thinking about it now, I might go back for them :)

Re: Women's shorts question -- for women
Ok Im new to running. When I have been working out I have my regular underwear, spandex shorts and athletic shorts. The spandex are for to keep me from getting chub rub (not sure the real name, but my legs are so fat they will stick to eachother making it uncomfortable and also will get a rash from it). Is the best way to run, with or without underwear. Still a little confused.

If there's a liner in the shorts, there's really no need for undies. You might want to try putting Vaseline or Bodyglide where you are experiencing chafing. It will help a lot.
