Cramps in lower right abdomen while running

I am a novice runner , i basically started last year mid summer. After about 30 minutes or so I begin to get a cramp in my mid to lower right side. Its kind of under the last rib. I have to slow down and actually stop some time but I can continue after the interuption in the run. I have been able to run thru it several times but no matter how much I seem to run it always happens. I have been running more already this year and it has happened each time. I dont really eat much before the run and I drink lots of water during the day. Any ideas??

Re: Cramps in lower right abdomen while running

I don't have an answer and I am writing because I get the same thing and it truly pains me. I do all I can to push through it but I wind up making myself cry out of frustration because all I want to do is run and this annoying pain is stopping me from doing what I enjoy to do.

I have tried it all........not eating before I run, eating a little before I run and even juicing fruits and vege's or having just a small protien shake. It is still always there.......a pain in my u know what!

Any help will be much appreciated!

Re: Cramps in lower right abdomen while running
It could possibly be that you are dehydrated when you get cramps. If you consume enough water always, especially prior to a run, you should not feel cramps. Also work on your breathing techniques as they can help overcome cramping.
