I think he jumped next to the car. I don't doubt that he could do this, but I do doubt that he would actually risk his body to prove it. I know I wouldn't if I made that much money with my athletic ability.

You guys are kidding, right? This is a fake video. Sorry, I don't mean to be a jerk, it's just pretty obvious. And I saw Kobe being interviewed during one of the recent Lakers playoff games and he confirmed that the jump over the car was fake.
