Anyone else feeling antsy? I feel like I'm on amphetamines or something (only without illegal substances), bouncing off the walls like Tigger. I'm literally giddy with anticipation, pardon the annoying cliche. It's going to be a Loooooooooong week, waiting for Thursday to get here so I can get on that airplane! Finished my last long (?) run last night, eight miles, and just plan on doing five in a couple of days and three on Thursday, spending the week carb-loading and ultra-hydrating ![]()
If anyone needs some inspiration, take a few minutes and watch this. Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

WOW, thank you for posting that link!
I hope you have an awesome time next weekend, you've worked hard and it will be wonderful!
I had seen that video before. I checked his daily update page (Randy Pausch and it sounds like he's still kickin' here in VA but his health is definitely suffering. It is good to see him beating the doctor's original prediction of just a few months to live.
No running for me today. It's raining like cats and dogs with thunder, lighting, and puddles the size of Texas. (Had to throw that in for our Texas friends.)
I should have done my 12 but it was 87 yesterday and pouring down today. I'll try to knock out some miles this week but generally, it's take it easy time and rest, hydrate, and carbo-load for the race on Saturday.

Never saw that video...got a little teary....thanks for sharing.
I ran in the torrential rains this morning. because it was warm enough, i was able to take off my shirt, since it was chafing all over. i had to take off my glasses too, so i couldn't see much in front of me. I did a little less than nine. I was sopping wet, but it felt good...like a baptism.
happy running...looking forward to the big event next saturday and actually meeting some of you!
Happy Running!
I'm not feeling antsy. I'm anticipating the CMM but I also know I have a lot of work to do to get better, so it kind of evens out. I'm more looking forward to getting away and having a nice long run while I'm gone.
We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.
(Apologies to T. Rush and J. Tempchin, for the paraphrase)
I think maybe I'm more looking forward to seeing everyone and having a good time than the actual race itself
Not that I'm not looking forward to the race, because I am! Still slightly concerned that I overdid it at the Big D less than three weeks before the marathon, but there ain't a whole h#ll of a lot I can do about that now, is there? Except rest up, carb-load, hydrate, and be in the right frame of mind. And the right frame of mind is: Even if I don't hit 4:15, PR, or even have a good finish time, to finish healthy and have a good time doing it.
And get your bling, Nita! Don't forget about the bling! Remember, everyone's a winner. ![]()
The old "rule" is that you should have one day of rest for every mile run after a marathon. And even though you're at 21 days instead of 26, I have a feeling you'll be just fine going into the race. Especially given all the "encouragement" (at my expense!) you've been given.
I'm not antsy at all. To me it's just another long run in a different town which is actually a good thing. I like the variety. On the upside, I hope to find someone (other than Jimmy or Charlie) to pace to keep me motivated in later miles. That's how I kept pushing at Shamrock. I locked onto a guy who seemed to be going about my pace and just stuck with him until the last 1-2 miles when I took off.
It will be great to see everyone again.
You guys are going to have an awesome time. I wish I was there, but I'll be there cheering you on in spirit. ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY, not only the race but the "lousy company" of each other as well.
First, Nita - I remember when I first saw the abridged version of the 'Last Lecture' a few months ago...today I took the time to watch the full lecture, and have to say, anybody who hasn't watched it really should set an hour aside to do so. Really makes you think about life and what you want. I love his quote about walls - that they are only there to show us how much we really want something, and keep out the ones who don't want it enough.
And also echo that I am really looking forward to seeing everyone, those who I've met and those I have yet. And just getting the he!! out of town for a few days.

It made a huge buzz in Pittsburgh before it made national news since he was a prof at CMU. One of his dreams was to play pro ball and I saw on the news the other day that he was on the field with the Steelers. Amazing.
I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

That's really cool!
One thing I didn't mention earlier, I actually met him back in 2002 at the Game Developers Conference. I was volunteering, and the conference held a two day accademic summit...he and his cohort were there representing CMU. I was looking to apply to the program back then, but I screwed around too much my first couple of years at school so GPA wasn't high enough...I guess he'd say that I turned around at the wall.

Charlie, are you really human flesh and blood? I'm starting to think you're a cyborg.
Good luck with the taper Nita. I thought of you today. I ate a chocolate chip cookie to "fuel up" before heading down to the gym for an hour and a half of cardio. It actually worked out pretty well. But it was one of the big cookies from Panera.
