it's on my calendar.
It's on mine as well. Wild horses couldn't drag me away from my computer that morning!
Glad to see you made it home safe and sound, Karen!!

We did. It was a long drive. I haven't ever left my little fellow home without me before. I avoided talking to him until this morning so that he wouldn't get upset hearing my voice. My Mom put him on the phone: "hi, Ian, I miss you". "Hi, Mommy, can I talk to Daddy?" That's a grateful kid, huh?
We pulled into the driveway and he is outside with Grandma. Which side of the car did he run up to? Yep, Daddy's.
Was that a Rodney Dangerfield? I don't get no respect!!!
But I'm glad to be home
Here is my obligatory "new guy" question. How quickly does the race usually fill up? This will be my first marathon and I want to make sure I'm in, but I've got a work conflict around the middle of the day Wednesday. Do I need to make a big effort to move things around or do you think I'll still be OK by late that afternoon? Thanks!
I'll be in for MCM this year -- DEFINITELY! Even though it's a couple of weeks after Chicago, it's a local race for me so I "have" to run it. I may not PR but I'll be with friends and pushing myself and that's what matters most.
Glad you made it back safe and sound Karen. Mom's are often taken for granted (Nita, are you listening?) but they provide an invaluable contribution in the raising of our children. Don't feel bad, Karen... little Ian missed you too. It was truly a pleasure to meet you and your husband and great to finally put a face with a screen name! For those who haven't met her, Karen is an amazingly sweet and beautiful woman that you can feel comfortable around immediately. Kind of like me but without the obnoxoius, annoying, and hard-headed qualities. ![]()
And for anyone who doesn't already know (most everyone), Cecil (mouse1 from the old board who couldn't run the full marathon at MCM but ran the 10k a couple of weeks after an appendectomy and Disney in January at 4:2x) will be registering for the MCM this year! He called me today to get my results and says hi to all the old MCM'ers. When we ran Disney he was on the fence about MCM this year but he has been convinced AND roped some more people into it.
Hi! Welcome!
Last year it filled up in about 10 days. I also remember last year I tried to log on at noon and the site was busy and I couldn't get on until around 3 or 4. I think barring something really crazy happening, you should be able to register later in the day. Happy to have you running with us
I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Mike, IIRC last year it sold out in about 10 days...but I wouldn't suggest waiting more than 24 hours.

YAY! The more the merrier! I really want to meet Cecil, I'm so sad I missed him
I heard such nice things about him! In addition to my co-coaches and possibly Chris, a girl I went to college with is planning to run as well. Is it possible this year could be more fun than last year??

Yes, Kat, it is possible. Like you wrote, the more the merrier (except house guests... after a certain point usually related to available space.)
Cecil is a great guy. His wife is also super nice.
Kat, you NEED to get Chris to run this.
He'll understand and appreciate you even more than he already does. ![]()
I deferred MCM last year for NYC, so I've been in since January, but good reminder thread for everyone! If I hit the NYC lottery for the second year in a row, things get complicated. Odds are high that I'm in for MCM though. I didn't want to do back-to-back weekends last year with it being my first NYC... but (if selected) as my second??
Incredible event!! The MCM was my first marathon and I loved every minute of it. The fans and the course is fantastic. If you miss the registration window don't forget their are a number of charities that need supporters and runners to join their groups. I ran with witness justice, a non-profit serving victims of crime, and it was a great way to get bitten by the marathon bug:)
enjoy and good luck!
I have a dilemma...I can get into NYC marathon and really want to run it...but...I really want to do MCM also. So I'm going to register for both and see what happens...that is if my wonderful wife is good with it! I mean...this is THE MCM!
This seems like an easy decision, Charlie. . . run MCM!
All the cool kids are doing it. ![]()

Yeah, seriously, Charlie, is there really any decision here??
MCM!
