Hey, hanks for the info. I can tell by scanning the board this morning that this sounds like a fun group. See everybody in October. ![]()

We're so "fun," it's scary!
Glad you're joining us!
Nita
Fun, nuts, scary, it is all the same.
WELCOME!
I'm already in, as most of you know, and planning my training. More long runs!
We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.
(Apologies to T. Rush and J. Tempchin, for the paraphrase)
I'm already in, as most of you know, and planning my training. More long runs!
I strongly suggest the marathon-before-THE-marathon training plan for the long run. I've got to find one semi-local for three weeks before MCM!
Kat, you NEED to get Chris to run this.
He'll understand and appreciate you even more than he already does. ![]()
Oh Jerry, Chris is a marathoner, he did Chicago in 2006. Antarctica was his idea, he signed up like 8 months before I did. And he's the one who does adventure races and all that other crazy stuff. He understands!!
(He couldn't believe after MCM I was able to walk up the three flights of stairs to his condo... he said it ook him 5 days...I know I earned a little respect there!)
I do today what you won't, so tomorrow I do what you can't.

Nita, don't encourage us.... the Baltimore marathon is usually 2 weeks before MCM. On one hand I want to go back and run it again, on the other, I somehow believe the course is jinxed (stress fracture in 2004).

Nita! I just found out about one the first weekend of October in the Wichita Mountains! They have a half and a full, plus a marathon relay!
I can't believe you guys are missing the obvious answer... do both Charlie!
Nita, woo hoo, another one on the pre-marathon marathon training program!
Kat, Chicago is two weeks before MCM too! ![]()

Cool! Got any info on it? I was searching for a Texas one and couldn't find anything. I was just on the St. George Marathon website, Oct. 4, thinking hmmm, all downhill, three weeks before MCM. Wouldn't that be nice to BQ before MCM and just be there for the party?? And I really do like the smaller, quieter marathons better than the big ruckus, which I guess is opposite from most.

Craig, y'all are bad influences... but I admit, I don't dread the long training runs now.
It seems like last year they actually started registration at 11am (my time, East Coast)
I don't know anything about St George, but here is the link for the one in the Wichita Mountains:

I'm just doing the half there and then a half at UT tyler on the 11th, then the MCM ![]()

I dunno, Kevyn, I don't think I'll be BQ'ing on anything called Spirit of SURVIVAL... I don't know if I can handle another wilderness run after that last half-marathon w/you and Jimmy. And this is in the course descrption:
While 19 hospitality aid stations providing beverages, food and first aid will line the 26.2-mile course led by official race vehicles, it is important to note that buffalo and longhorn roam free on the open range and are considered dangerous. While these animals are generally docile creatures, all runners must be aware that the race is being run on a national wildlife preserve and animal encounters are possible.
Ha! Just think of the speed you could pick up while running from the buffalo ![]()

Hmmm... how'd I miss that?!?!? ![]()
Well, good, I'm glad he's going to run it. Is he fast? Do I need to beat him too? ![]()
