We were at the bar the other night and my friend is dating someone about 5 years older who is in his early 30s. We started talking about the first CDs we ever had (Ace of Base and Madonna True Blue depending on whether you're in the 24 or 27 year old age subgroups of my friends) and I looked at my friend's boyfriend, and was like "Did they even have CDs when you were a kid?"

Someone had a yard sale not long ago, my only contribution to which was being able to recognize an item as an adaptor allowing cassettes to be played in an eight-track player........

Duh, Mr. Zeus, what do you think we're talking about? Oh, yeah, you were busy throwing peas with Kat. It was made in 1968 apparently. I was thinking it was later than that. I was in first grade. Did they have TV's back then? :)

I'm totally lost. Immer's singing to Courir, Kat thinks anyone over 27 still has eight-track tapes, Jesus is listening to Iron Maiden in his wrestler mask and watching sci-fi movies with his dad... All in one thread that is supposed to be a list of marathon participants.

Just another day on the MCM forum...

MCM sign up day craziness! The "Bicycle Built for Two" is sung by the Hal 9000 in 2001, I think. Weirdly enough I was thumping through the drum solo in Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" on a pile of forms when Jesus mentioned Iron Maiden. The mix of taper madness and MCM registration must be toxic!

"Did they have TV's back then?" I just had to ask. Now do I get my spanking and sent to bed. Does not sound too bad.

Jesus you are slipping on this one.

Re: MCM list of participants!

First album was by Elton John, can't remember the whole title. Think it had "Rocket Man" on it . still have it too. And thanks Nita, now I'm officially "Chris the lurker" - sounds like a pedophile. Either that or I'll be the guy running the MCM hiding in the woods. Actually, I guess I have only me to blame for that one :^0

In 1968 I was trying hard to understand Real Analysis as a college junior. I don't remember the first record I bought, but I know it was a 45. LPs cost more then I had. When I started buying CDs, shortly after they became available, the cost about $11.98 and everybody said the price would come down as soon as they got really popular.

Re: MCM list of participants!

The most popular 8 track we had was Johnny Cash's Folsum Prison. My first album was The Partridge Family (my sister got the Jackson 5) and my first CD was AC/DC Back in Black.

I'm not giving out spankings, but our TV only had three channels, on a good day.
