Can softball make it back into the 2016 Olympics?

I was happy to be greeted by this bit of news that came through my email this morning:
"The International Softball Federation has launched a two-and-a-half year marketing campaign to have the sport reinstated in time for the 2016 Olympic Games. Softball will be dropped from the Olympic program starting with London 2012 as a result of a 2005 vote by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) where the sport lost by a single vote."
What do you think -- does softball have what it takes to be voted back into the Olympics?
With the growth and popularity of softball in the last 2 years it should be re-instated in the Olympics and continue to grow at a fast pace.
I'd sure like to see it back.
Without trying to bash any other "sports" represented, I tyhink SB can hold it's own.
oops
I hope that the International Softball Federation's "Back Softball" campaign has a strong impact on the IOC.
I think softball can hold its own too. I guess the rest of the world disagrees... but it seemed so strange to not only kick out softball but baseball as well. Interestingly, I have heard one side of the story is that baseball got dropped because of the steroid issue and softball got unfairly lumped in with it. ?
I think a reason why the Olympics is not holding a Baseball or Softball competition in 2012 is because the Olympics are in Europe. Baseball and Softball seem to be afterthoughts in Europe, but if it ends up in a country where baseball is actually popular it will only help the cause. Plus the way softball is growing they certainly have a good case for reinstating the sports.
I'm curious to know more about the process where the IOC votes on which sports will be in the Olympics. How often do they vote, etc?
I hope softball gets reinstaed. Sorry but I am a young softball player and wanted to play in the Olympics when I got older. So yah softball should get reinstated ,and I dont just say that because I want to play but I no a lot of other kids that want to play.
