Advice for 10 Year Old Son

My 10 year old son is very athletic and has always wanted to get involved in surfing. As a protective mother, I must say I am a little weary but I think it would be a really great experience for him. We live in Connecticut. Are there any camps around us that he could go to? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You should definitely have your son go to camp. That's how I started and about around the same age too. I think I was nine. He will love it!

I'm not sure what choices you'll have as far as surf camps go in CT, but you should check out the Billabong Camps website (http://www.billabongcamps.com) to see what's around your area. They have some great camp operators around the country and you can guarantee your son will have the best experience possible.

I took my 11 year old son down to San Onofre to participate in the Summer Sole Day Camp. He had amazing time and we are thinking about sending him back this summer to sharpen his surfing skills. I think it would be a great idea for your son to learn how to surf, especially with Billabong Surf Camps. I would go to their website to find the nearest surf camp. Good luck.
