MY GOD. These students must think I am totally clueless in addition to a pushover.
For future reference to anyone ever thinking of plagiarizing something, there's a little handy thing out there called "Google." I can use it to find the essay you downloaded from 123helpme.com and attached your name to. Because I know your grammar isn't that good, so I didn't think for an instance you could have written this paper. To say nothing of the fact that you probably don't even know what a "connotation" is.
Gah.

Yep, there are plenty of them that would. It's the entitlement generation!
I have worked very hard, thank-you-very-much... but in general I would agree. I couldn't believe what my peers got away with in college. My brother is graduating in a few weeks and can barely spell and his papers have the grammer of ones written by 5th graders... and he's graduating from one of the best business schools in the country.
I am appalled at some of the work related emails I see come across my husband's email. They don't even run spell check. I don't think people realize how ignorant they sound.

I think that you are obligated to report the plagiarizers to the school ethics committee. And the late ones get an F. When I was in college, our english prof made us give assignments for a quick write. We started each class with ten minutes writing on a topic assigned by our fellow students. We then graded the papers for our assigned topic. She would then regrade. i was appalled by the upgrading that she did. But back to your topic-cheaters need to be held accountable, and the students that can't follow directions need to be held accountable as well. Of course, you may never win the coveted "Golden Apple" award...

Oh, there's never been any doubt about what I'm going to DO. It say so right in my syllabus. She's going to get her butt flunked all the way back to Com 101. And reported to the dean. I'm just annoyed.

Is this at the school near me? The easy access to information these days makes this kind of thing much more common. I wonder if these kids have ever had a thought of their own.
Lenz's Law is a special case of Le Chatelier's principle: Any change in status quo prompts an opposing reaction in the responding system. I like that one better.

Interesting choice of words. These days, you can't be sure. Or, maybe things aren't as bad as the media report.

I was so afraid of being accused of plagiarisim that I followed the basic rule, "One more citation isn't going to lower your grade but one less can fail you!" It gets into murky waters when you start paraphrasing and even murkier when you start reciting from memory after reading page after page of information. Nonetheless, downloading it from the web and turning it as your own work is very clearly plagiarism. Get 'em Sara!
It baffles me how someone seeking higher education can even see this as remotely "OK." My guess is they're probably not paying for their own education.

Sara,
Let it slide we need more college educated people out there in the world. I hear that soon the door greeter at Wal-Mart will need a degree. As far as the late papers just be glad they turned them in and give them all passing grades. Remember there is that whole no child left behind thing that some guy in a white house came up with. I know that they are "adults" but they are young adults so we should cut them some slack.

My comment was regarding a business related email rather than a casual note to a friend or post on a message board.
