I vote for running a 5K or two before deciding on a 10K. If you run the 10 and hate it, it may discourage you from running 5Ks because you might see that as a failure. I say ease up to the 10K, :)

Go for the 10k! My first race EVER... was the Cooper River Bridge Run (10k) this year...I only trained for about 9 weeks before running it and had a fantastic time. Now I am running a bunch of 5k's and training for the rock and roll 1/2 in Va Beach at the end of August. I love running and don't mind shooting for the stars when planning out my next big race. Don't worry about your time, have fun and enjoy the race! Good luck!!!

u have enough time till that event, so if u keep training on a regular basis u will improve ur performance, but first u need to try to do some outdoor runs, start with 3 miles if u think ur good, go to 5 miles, if u finish the 5 miles in less than an hour, then i tell u, u can do the 10k in about 70 minutes, which i guss is a good start for you. I'm 27 years now, my first 10K was in about 68 mins and that was in april 26, now I do it in about 56 mins, so that' a huge difference and u can make it if u keep trying and training.
