Re: The Long Haul - Keep on RUNNIN'

Our recent 2 hour half-marathoner, Don, posted this little ditty back in December.  I thought I'd share it with you so we can see just how far he has come.  I think we all forget how far we've all come.  So, without further ado, Don in December -

Re: The Long Haul - WEEK 7!!!!!! After hemming and hawing for the past couple of days about whether to do another week 7 day or to press ahead into week 8, I went ahead and started week 8 this morning. It's a comfortable 73F here in Buffalo, but the humidity is pushing 90% -- ick.

I did my 2.75 mile run in 33 minutes even. I definitely felt like I was pushing myself a little bit in terms of distance, but my pacing was okay. I wore my heart rate monitor again and did my best to limiting myself to a heart rate in the upper 150s/lower 160s.

The 2.75 miles were challenging, but I felt better about finishing this run than I have in a couple of weeks. It could be because I forced myself to take the full two days of rest between weeks, which I didn't do between weeks 6 and 7.

Great job everyone! It's good to see everyone sticking with it, even when it's tough! Sign me up, by the way, for OHR. Anything to secure rock star status...

Don

I'll bet money on this.  Don will be running a marathon before the end of the year!

Hey Angie - I saw that guy checking me out too. Wow, and I thought I was special. Guys can be so hurtful sometimes.

We've all come a tremendous way -- I remember my first journal entry for c25k. I wrote about how the 60 second jog very nearly killed me! Listen to us now -- 5ks, 10ks, half-marathons. As Val's prone to saying -- we're rock stars!

Nobody checking out my butt as I finished on Sunday. Well, maybe my wife. That's the best photo she got of me during the race!

Have a great week everybody!

Don

Re: The Long Haul - Keep on RUNNIN'

I enjoyed the pics and the race reports, you guys are rock stars!!!

I have been busy during this long weekend, I will do better on my posting, just don't send the mounties after me.  lol

I didn't have a race last Saturday, the humidity was so bad down here, so I'm glad that I didn't. The local races slows down some until the weather cools off in the fall. Our Pine Belt Pacers Club will have Relays on June 7th, this is a video promoting it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWBN36c3VUg

You can also see a couple other videos from the events from 2007..  hope you enjoy

We will have teams for the relays with 5 or 6 on each team.

I have cut my distance down during my runs, i try and run from 3.1 to 6 miles. Today is the first day that I have run 2 days in a row since my surgery on Jan. 29. I am going to try and increase my mileage run during the week. With today's run I went over 300 miles for the year.

It's nice that Mike and Angie are able to run in the same races, I thought us men was suppose to check out the females..  it's called motivation!!!!

Angie has her shades on so we don't know where she is looking.. lol

Everyone stay healthy and enjoy your running,
