My vote is for Nolan Ryan. Even though he didn't develop any control with his fastball until later in his career, Ryan was always a force. In one high school game he broke one batter's arm, the next pitch broke another batter's helmet and the next batter was so nervous he just stared at three pitches crossing the plate. Awesome.

A-Fraud?! Are you HIGH?

Everyone (even Yankee fans in the know) says Manny was legendary during high school in the Bronx. The fact that he went to school in sight of The House That Ruth Built and yet is such a Yankee killer just makes it all the sweeter!

Josh Hamilton did evertything in high school. He'd strike out the side in the 1st inning and then go hit a bomb!

Daaaaaaaarryylllll........Daaaaaaaaarrrryyyyl

Darryl Strawberry at Crenshaw High...no contest :)

A's GM Billy Beane would probably be my second choice. From the picture they paint in "Moneyball" (which was fantastic), Beane was regarded by MLB scouts as the best young player ever...a plus-plus for all five tools, but couldn't handle the pressure.

GARY SHEFFIELD, SS/P, HILLSBOROUGH, 1986 During his senior year at Hillsborough, Sheffield batted .500 and hit 15 home runs in only 62 official at-bats, while his fastball was reaching the upper 80's and he was named the Gatorade High School Player of the Year.

PRINCE FIELDER, 1B, EAU GALLIE MELBOURNE, 2002 At 6-feet and 255 pounds, the left-handed Fielder was a hulk even as an 18-year old senior. As a senior at Eau Gallie, Fielder hit .524 with 10 homers and 41 RBI. He had 13 doubles, one triple and scored 47 runs. Fielder's power was what made him attractive to the Milwaukee Brewers, who selected him in the first round (seventh overall) in the 2002 amateur entry draft.

ALEX RODRIGUEZ, SS, MIAMI-WESTMINSTER, 1993 In his senior year at Westminster in 1993, Rodriguez was regarded as the top prospects in the country when he hit .505 with nine home runs, 36 RBI and stole 35 bases in just 33 games. He was a first team prep All-American, and was selected as the USA Baseball Junior Player of the year and the Gatorade National Baseball Student Athlete of the Year.

CHIPPER JONES, OF, BOLLES HIGH He was named Florida High School player of the year in 1990 and led Bolles High School in Jacksonville, FL to a state championship in 1990 with a .448 batting average. He was also drafted by the Atlanta Braves as the first pick in the entire draft in 1990.

I saw him play at the Metrodome, He put on quite a performance,His defense was very strong at third base. A big kid, also parked a homer ,deep in left field bleachers. His team played against a Janesville team . His brothers quite a ballplayer too. He played shortstop, nothing really got by those two . Keep playing hard Evan and Eric Bierman and Good Luck !!!!!!!!!

Chris Carpenter. Trinity HS, Manchester NH.

Offense was equal to his dominance on the mound, so surprising to see him picked by Toronto, and not an NL team. His first endorsement contract was for batting gloves

I kinda like Manny
Manny's final high school numbers were exceptional: batting average of .630, slugging percentage of 1.455, and a home run every 5.7 at bats. He received All-City honors in 1989, '90 and '91 and was named New York City Public Schools "High School Player of the Year"
