weekly mileage-again?

I know this has been done, oh well, where is everyone as far as weekly miles. I am going to hit 30 for the first time in years. I'm really trying to lose the weight with this training program and was told it will happen if I run higher mileage, so here goes...

Re: weekly mileage-again?
If my long run is successful in the morning I will end the week with a weekly high of 48 miles. It is raining out right now with lightning and as soon as it lets up I owe 4 miles for today as well. Will update later.

I'm in the upper 20s, depending on the week and my long run.

Re: weekly mileage-again?
Just finished my 4 for the day. I am thinking that 48 miles this week is more then I haver done so far this year. I plan on increasing my milage good before Chicago with some serious effort. I will take a look at i after I get done with Jay Mountain's 33 miles of wonder. I am super excited about that one.

Re: weekly mileage-again?
I did 60.5 this past week. Next week I start my 16 week training cycle for Baltimore. Thankfully, the first week or two will actually be a cut back because my body is getting run down. I miss the elliptical trainer that's at work so I have at least two reasons to look forward to summer school (the other reason being the pay check). I'm so used to integrating cross-training at least a couple times a week that straight running every day is taking its toll, especially since I wasn't fresh at the start of the week. Amazingly, I'm running 60 miles and I'm putting on weight due to the fact that I'm not at work and I seem to gravitate towards the pantry. I can't seem to pass by it without grabbing at least a handful of cereal...

3 runs, 25 miles. A pretty good amount for me but Jimmy and Jay . . . wow.

Re: weekly mileage-again?
Just remember that we both race more often then others. I have a 33 miler coming up in July and have been thinking of uping my mileage to the 50-70 realm for some time now. I am currently not coaching any sport for my kiddos so it seems like the perfect time to increase my mileage to see how the body does with it. So far so good.

To do that kind of mileage you have to: find the time; find the energy; stay healthy. It starts to be a balancing act.

It also requires running at least 5 days per week. I have never run that much . . . I am going to start running 4 days per week, and work up to about 40 miles per week, in the next 10 weeks.

Actually, I race fairly infrequently (I'm lucky to average once a month). I tend to target two or three key races per year and focus my training on those events and utilize other races as speedwork. This week just happened to be one where I didn't have access to an elliptical, so I ran every day instead of integrating my usual 2-3 cross-training sessions. But yeah, even if it doesn't always pan out I try and workout every day. I'm a bit obsessive about training...

And that's how I feel about getting over 30 miles!

Last week mid 30s. This week low 20s (2 races).

Re: weekly mileage-again?
A lousy 16 this week, it was supposed to be 31 with the long run, but hopefully do better tomorrow morning. Running in the high 20's or low 30's mostly.

Re: weekly mileage-again?
I've been in the low to mid 20's as well and looking at everyone else's weekly mileage, wow. I feel like what I've been doing is barely anything!!

This might be a very simple question, but since I'm new to all this, what's the average for weekly mileage once training gets into full swing, especially for someone running their first??
