I've had an MRI on my knee and turns out I have a small tear in the tendon (below kneecap). They gave me a brace to wear and scheduled me for some physical therapy.
Sound familiar to anyone? What can I expect when I go? How many PT sessions did you have to go for? And how long did it take for you to recover?
Appreciate any feedback...
This is a patella tendon partial rupture. You can find some more info about it here:
Physical therapy of this condition in my experience involves ultrasound and massage initially. This is follwed up by stretching and then strengthening exercises to re-buid the strength of the tendon. The number of sessions varies, but I would expect between 5 (absolute minimum) and 12 on a weekly basis. Provided you follow all advice and exercises it should be well on the way to recovery within 2 months
