You're not alone. I almost fell down the stairs at work today and landed on a co-worker. All because I tripped over my shoe, which is also a flat shoe. I guess I just don't know how to walk! The look on her face was priceless and I made quite the ruckus. My boss freaked out b/c he thought I was hurt (I sat at the bottom of the stairs since I was laughing so hard) and would have to file a work comp claim. Even though we deal with work comp claims, he still freaks out. Ran my third set of 15 minuets today. At noon, because I slept till 10. Stupid idea all around. Um, it's hot. And humid. And yucky. And stuff. Also, I'm a klutz and fell in a hole in my classroom yesterday, so my left ankle is a little tweaked. Ok, confession There was no hole. I just fell off of the side of my shoe. Which, I would like to add, is a FLAT shoe, of the practically ortho-****-pedic clog variety. So it's not the shoes. It's just me. Thank you, I'll be here all week. We are a graceful group. I have PT tonight, hopefully she will tape my knee again and I'll be able to get at least 4 miles in. I'll do my 7 tomorrow since I won't have enough time tonight. And the tape should still be on tomorrow, so realistically I could have two days of pain free running! I really need to start packing.

I am a big hockey fan and have heard about that before but never seen it. I am sure it is on YouTube somewhere, I will have to go find it.Anyone else remember that? surely I can't be the only one whose early hockey memories include Phil Esposito tripping over the blue line while being introduced..... I had a 7 mile run this afternoon, at the gym of course. If I tried to run outside today I think they would have called for an ambulance. The heat index is 107 degrees here today, yucky. On another thread I posted about finding a half marathon before the MCM and I think I found one. There is a Half in Asheville, NC on Sept 13th that seems to be pretty good. My wife has family there so it would eliminate hotel costs which is always a plus. If anyone has run this before please let me know any info about. I know it has some hills but that is to be expected. Thanks! Al-MCM wrote:

I want to thank my parents for having sex some 34 years ago! Hey all, I was out running at 4am this morning due to some insomnia. Put in 7 miles as scheduled. I kept it low and slow. I finished the run in 1:12:38. I liked the slow steady pace and hope to maintain that for the MCM. Stars were out bright and a great blue heron was making a racket off by the nearby stream. God awful noise. Temp was 73 degrees with very high humidity. I was pleased with the run. Good job, everyone, on your training today.

I ran 7 miles at 7 pm. Didn't look at my Garmin (only put it on to track mileage), tried a new route with some nasty hills (totally unintentional) and came in at 1:11:33 (10:14 pace). It was nice to just take it easy and forget about goals and pace.
In Training: Antarctica Marathon 2009; Pittsburgh Marathon 2009 | My Antarctica Marathon Training Blog Just finished an interval workout on the treadmill. After a half mile warmup, I ran six 880s @ a 7:00 min / mile pace with 90 second recovery intervals. I will try to get m cross training workout in before my meeting starts on the morning. My long run this weekend will be 13 miles again, only I will be running it in Denver. Talk to you soon. Karl
Re: Wednesday's Run/Training
Did 4 miles today, took it easy as my knee was still hurting a bit after PT. Got it taped again and that seemed to help a ton. Will keep it on for tomorrow's run as well. Finished at a 9:58 pace, which was fine by me, my legs got a workout before hand. I ran right after a storm and it was buggy out. My shirt had all these little bugs stuck on it, which totally grossed me out. Also got a bug in the eye around mile 3, that's no fun!
Week's half over!
I finished an hour with the trainer today. I spent 20 minutes of it on the treadmill. I ran for 10 minutes for the first time. I can't go any faster than 4.7 mph (just under a 13 minute pace) without pain, and even at that pace I'm having a lot of tingling and numbness. Back to the Dr. in two more weeks.
