Anyone try out the Ipod mileage tracker for your shoes?

Hi,

I was looking into buying one of those I think it is Nike Ipod chips that you put in your shoes, and it is supposed to tell you how far you ran, your calories, while you listen to your ipod. Does anyone have one of these, and if so, does it actually work? How do you put the chip in your shoes??

Hi, I used one last year when I was training for a half and it was awful, never worked right. My time and distance were always off, by A LOT! I gave up on it. Not worth it in my opinion

I have one and I love it. I actually have a pair of nikes that are compatible with the chip, it slides in under the sole and I don't have to worry about it afterwards.

^^^Make sure you calibrate the chip as well. I know that helps with accuracy.

Overall, it has been good to me.

Susan, you don't need Nike shoes for it work. There is a pouch that you could get to attach it to any shoes as well. I have also heard of people getting very creative with attaching it to other parts of their shoes as well. So don't give up on it!

I use it as well. It is a huge help in motivation and tracking things. I have a couple different pouches I use and overall the accuracy is decent as long as you calibrate it correctly.

I've gotten mine to be in the area of 1/20 of a mile accuracy by using a gps. This is plenty good enough to track improvements and document my runs.

I also think the slowgeek.com site provides better graphs and information than the Nike flash site does but the Nike site does have some nice ways of setting up challenges and goals to help keep you motivated.
