Looking for Running Tatoo Ideas

Hi,

I am fairly new to this discussion board, and I have been trying to find different running designs for a tatoo on my ankle. There are quite a few shoes with wings, or 26.2, but I was hoping to find out some unique ideas from people. I have ran 5 marathons, a handful of 5ks, and a couple 10 milers, and I run at least 5 times a week. So some may think that this does not "deserve" a running tatoo, but I am getting one because I just picked up running 4 years ago, and I LOVE IT! If anyone has a unique "running" tatoo and would not mind sharing their ideas, that would be great!!

Thank you

Susan

I have a neat bumper sticker on my car that i thought about putting into ink on me somewhere...it simply states, *"26.2, because I can." *

I have ink but have chosen to display it in more original locations on my bod. Inside left wrist (butterfly #1), right elbow inside crease (butterfly #2), and the top of my right foot (lion head).

Have fun with the tat! Kim Runs

I have the chinese characters for Strength and Endurance on my left shoulder. The combination of those two is,

"Perseverance" I liked this becasue it expresses the characteristics that are required for marathons and Ultra's etc..

Be careful with "characters because it can get confusing when trying to get exactly what you want.

As displayed and the order in which displayed can mean differnt stuff! Have it checked by more than one source before going to skin!

http://www.chinesenames.org/chinese-symbols/strength.htm

This is one I went with (as well as my Chinese born neighbor!) The 1st symbol, kinda looks like an "h" is generally accepted at the single character for strength.

Another good site, is

http://chineseculture.about.com/library/symbol/blcc_endure.htm Again in this one the second single alone can also be just "endure" alone.

I have them going from the top down, Strength, Endure.

You don't normally see people with tatoos on the inside of their ankles, but I like that too!
I had them done on the inside to represent that fact that running is something that I do for internal and personal reasons. While they are in no way meant to be hidden from the outside world, they are there to remind me that the strength to run comes from within.

I did something similar for another tattoo. I found the characters I wanted in a Japanese-English dictionary and then (because many characters are the same in Japanese and Chinese) I double checked with my sister who lives in Taipei. Tattoos are not something where you should leave any chance for mistakes.

My father and I were very close and he died 2 years ago. On the inside of my left ankle I have the Kanji (Japanese/Chinese) symbol for "father" and on the inside of my other ankle is the symbol for "daughter" that way we are always either "side by side" or "following one another".

This is a great thread because I am also thinking about getting a tattoo and trying to decide what i want to get. I started running last year and it has truly changed my life. I was thinking about getting a running symbol and getting some words using Kanji symbols to go around the symbol. I was thinking about what running means to me and how it changed my life and try to narrow it down to a couple of words. I think placement is also important. I want to get the tattoo on my foor but I heard that really hurts so i dont think I am.

Good luck with the tat!

I, too, have been looking for a cartoon type of runner and there is nothing worth putting on permenantly. my brother-in-law is an artist and I have asked him to draw-up some ideas. so we will see. I started running in Oct 2005 and if I do not get to run I feel shorted.

I have run forever but I am getting ready to do my first marathon. I also put a tattoo on my ankle. It is a pink running girl. She is my running partner and my incentive. After I complete my marathon, I am going to put a star behind her back foot. . Then I will add stars for every marathon I compete. I have attached a picture below. I love her!!!!
