Re: Why Run?

I run because 4 years ago I wanted to make a difference and help someone fighting Leukemia!

I run because I can and they couldn't.

I run to teach my twin boys an active lifestyle is a great thing.

I run to be a good example.

I run because I enjoy the challenge of pushing myself.

I run because my doctors tell me not too.

I run because I am a much nicer person when I am training (just ask my boys).

I run because I am a United States Marine.

I run because I am a medal *****!

Happy Running,

~ Deborah

I run because it keeps me sane.

I'm SOOO with you on that one, Kara!

I run to see where my body can go, both in the literal and figurative senses.  I run so that I can run more.  I run for the adventure!  I run to do that which others think I can't, shouldn't, or won't.  I will.

Re: Why Run?

I run because I quit smoking and do not want to go back to it. Can't run and smoke that's for sure.

I run because I didn't want to gain the weight everyone who quits smoking gains....This really is the perfect way to stop that habit.

I run because other people have told me I am an inspiration to them....geez that's a lot to live up too!! I can't let them down.

I run so my (ex) boyfriend will think I'm hot.

I run because now I'm addicted to it.

I run because the after race high is the best thing I've ever felt and it does not give you a hang over!

I run because other runners are the type of people I want to hang out with, everyone is so cool and nice!

I run because I've never felt better in my life.

I run because for the first time ever, I like who I am.

It's a beautiful thing this running business.

Re: Why Run?

I run because:

  • to finish is good - whether it be a training run or a marathon.  Sometimes you don't feel like starting but finishing always feels good.

  • because I wanted to run a marathon - once I got started I knew didn't want to stop.

  • because i like to eat...and running keeps me thin.

  • because I've made lots of friends running.

  • ......

Re: Why Run?

Because I love to hear "Your gonna run how many miles?  You're freaking insane!!"

Because it's a great way to cure insomnia

Because I'm up way before a lot of the avg folks are, and I have run more miles by the time they wake up than they will walk on a normal week.

With reasons like that, who the hell cares what your ex boyfriend thinks? You have everything you need. Welcome home.

Re: Why Run?

I've been trying to nail this down for me.  The problem is there are so many reasons.

I run for my health, mental and physical, that's what got me started.  I run for the challenge, me against me, that's what keeps me going.  These are the necessities.

I do love and appreciate the people I've met, the camaraderie, buying shoes (just bought Mizuno Wave Inspire 4, this will be interesting) and all the other things that go with it.  Honestly though, I could do all that without running.

We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.
(Apologies to T. Rush and J. Tempchin, for the paraphrase)
