Weight Training

Does anyone have a source for new routines. Changing the program often keeps my mind challenged and my body from adapting. Websites would help.

Here are a couple that I have used and can recommend:

www.freetrainers.com

www.ast-ss.com

Re: Weight Training
I'm a big fan of Core Performance, which is a book written by Mark Verstegen. He has a Web site that explains the training philosophy. It's all about core strength and pillar strength.

It's like a combination of Pilates, Yoga and stretching.

Re: Weight Training
Just to add to that, the website for Core Performance is www.coreperformance.com

I work directly with Mark and his team at Athletes Performance. Their focus and knowledge is incredible.

Going a step further FYI to those interested: Athletes Performance has recently began an endurance sports focus and have started to offer week long functional evaluation/training camps at their Tempe, AZ facility, and offer training sessions at both their AZ facility and at their newest facility, which is located within the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA. You can read about their new program at www.athletesperformance.com.

I've written a testimony of my experience with him and his philosophies here:

Keep up the strength training. We all need to take care of our 'pillar strength' before we attempt to repetitively stress our bodies!

Re: Weight Training
Maybe you can look into online coaching at www.thetipedge.com. Email support, phone calls, and specific programs can be designed for your strength training and tri-training needs.

Re: Weight Training
Hiring a coach can help you with coming up with a periodized, effective, specific, safe and fun routine to keep you motivated and keep you on track. I love writing programs wheter they be for my high level athletes or fitness enthusiasts. We would love to help you get what you are looking for. Feel free to give us a call or visit our web site for more information.

I would also like to suggest anything from the NSCA, NASM, ACSM, Chek Institue, Sportspecific.com or the Colgan Institute. These are all great sources of intelligent training information.

It sounds like you know a bit about anatomy and are educated on your body and training. I would highly suggest you get evaluated by a physical therapist or NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist who has a good knowledge of functional anatomy and biomechanics. I suggest this because I imagine your injuries are resulting from some underlying postural or muscular imbalances. If you can find out what this is, and correct it with a conditioning program that addresses the whole continuum, then I would bet you problem will go away. Until you do that, switching sports will only work for so long. Fix the underlying problem, and you will be able to enjoy all of the sports you enjoy. Fel free to conact me for more info. I will help in any way that I can.
