water upsetting stomach..

I have just recently started training for leedle baby duathlons this season, and have been drinking alot more water to keep myself hydrated..I drink probably around 2l or over a day, but find that drinking that much water upsets my stomach, and makes it hard to exercise...and if I drink during exercise (biking or running) it makes me feel quite ill.

Anyone got any ideas why?

Could it be that I just need to get used to drinking this much water?

you may be drinking too much at any given time. try to break it up throughout the day. eat lots of fruits and veggies also (increase fiber intake).

another reason you are experiencing this is due to water's high osmolality factor and no anti-oxidants. This prevents absorption and so it just sits in the stomach and sloshes around therefore causing stomach upset, dehydration, etc.
You should read my posts on hydration and LowOz and why this does not occur when you take it. During an endurance event, free radicals are formed and if you don't hydrate with a drink that contains an adequate amount of anti-oxidants, your digestive system will shut down and nothing will be absorbed.
Check out my information on LowOz and give it a try.
