Today I did move to 4's as it's the end of the month and no need to be too precise about it. I did it okay, in 9:44's but this afternoon I was really dragging. Funny how you can't predict anything in this type of recovery. I just keep trying and learning. Today was a good lesson. Spareribs
Fred's hammering 200's again.
Rich - I have to run in the center of the road or facing traffic because of the road crown or my left achilles begins to bark.
Go run Ribs.
2 X 5.75 easy runs today around 7:45 pace. Easy 6 miles in the hills tomorrow around 8 min pace or so and then a 5K all out effort Sat. morning.
The Wall Street Journal had an article about the tough competition in tomorrow's NYC Marathon in the 80+ year old women's race:
"More older Americans are exercising regularly than ever. By 2010, a quarter of the U.S. population will be older than 55, and officials with Running USA say seniors represent the fastest-growing segment of the sport's participants. Since 2003, the number of finishers 80 and above for all road races has risen 23% compared with 16% for all age groups.
Still, Ms. Johnson headlines a tiny segment in road racing's most grueling mass event. Just 26 runners over 80 registered for this year's race, including just three women other than Ms. Johnson and Ms. McGruder, none of whom are expected to win the division." I think Ms. Johnson is trying to get in under 6 hours. Good for her.
Unlike the speedy Ms. Johnson, I plodded through four miles this morning. Tomorrow is a big day at the Rib Cage. I am the 1/2 mile timer shouter at the Dallas Running Club Half and my wife will be running it. She's been training very well. Spareribs
Ms. Johnson, mentioned above, won her AG with a 6:05. Good for her.
My wife ran a 2:16 at her half yesterday, 49th out of 125 women in her AG. That is a five minute PR for her.
4 brisk miles for me this morning. Flying out today for Chicago through Thursday. Spareribs
