What's everyone's thoughts on displaying a 26.2 sticker on your car? Do you have one? Any specific reason why you do/don't?
(I have one I put on after completing my first marathon, I don't think too many people know what it means though...)
I agree. I like seeing other cars on the road with the sticker/magnet; I always find myself having to see the face behind the wheel and thinking "yeah, they know what it's like"...
Len: I'm actually surprised as to how many people need an explanation.
i love 'em! every time i pass a car with a 26.2 sticker, i smile. then i get green with envy! i'm planning to run my first marathon sometime next year (and i have the lofty aspiration of qualfiying for boston 2010). i have a 13.1 sticker on my car. i ran my first half this september and it was awesome. i can't wait to add a 26.2 to the other side.
Oh heck yea. I've done one half and I put a 13.1 sticker on mine. Of course I have a Jeep though and it has a lot of stickers on it.
People probably don't know what it means but then again if they don't then it's not about them.

oh heck yeah ryan!!! these stickers/magnets are the best things to see on cars!!! i have a 13.1 magnet on my car. i just did my first half back in september (second last month). and you darn right i will be getting the 26.2 when i complete my first full marathon in may '09!! i love it when i see it on other cars. i just nod and smile. it's an automatic connection!
"Sweat is the cologne of success!" Love this friggin' quote!
I have a 26.2 as well as a USAT sticker on my car. I like seeing them on other cars as well. I figure those who know what it is have an apprciation for it and those that dont, wouldnt understand anyway. I have done a couple ultra's as well and would like to get a sticker for that. I am doing the Crooms Fools 50 miler in April in Fl. I would like a 50 miles sticker for that and will be looking for one. Hey, display what you've accomplished proudly and if somebody ask you what it is then that gives a chance to proudly let them know! There is still a very very small percentage of people who have completed a marathon and if you have then its something to be proud of no matter what your finish time was.
I am proud of anybody who has done this. Half Marathoners as well!
Yes, display it! Why not?
Explain it too. You never know - you may inspire someone else to run 26.2
Everytime I see one - I have race memories and I smile
Training For: 50k Ultra Marathon (2nd)
I'm glad we are all on the same page! I thought there would be at least one person who sees it as a bad idea!
My wife and I were watching the CMA's last night (yeeeHAW!) and it really made me want to buy a belt buckle for some reason. I told my wife I could earn a buckle through the Western States 100..... she quickly squashed that idea (good thing too, I'd probably kill myself!)
Hey - I do like these - and I was wondering would any one be interested in some that say 5K, 8K, 10K, 10Mi, 15K 30K, 50K etc? I thought I'd like to be able to add stars around the number, to depict how many you've done - and maybe the year in the star. Let me know - I've been thinking of making some (since this is something I do for a living - besides run!) But If you were to purchase them from me, I was thinking I could give an "active" member discount or something. What do you think? If I get enough response, I'll post them on my website, and hopefully you'd be able to purchase right from there.
