ok, at the risk (and acceptance) of sounding like a Grinch....
My coworkers have put the Christmas music station on. It's killing me. I'm not anti holiday music by any means, but when you have the 24/7 station going, for every good or classic song, there is about 2 hours of filler cr@p that is just painful on my ears.
Humbug!

LOL! You mean filler cr@p like Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer? Or is that one of the classics?
LOL that's right up there with the chipmunks and the dogs barking jingle bells.
I don't know a way to fix that, Chris, but you have reason to be grinch-like. It gets old fast.
Nita - I think that song qualifies as 'classic Which means that it stinks even more as the years go on...
I'm actually looking forward to the commercial breaks at this point.
Omi - dead on. Christmas day, perfect. Christmas Eve as well, and I didn't mind it even on Thanksgiving during the family dinner....but give me a break!
And the worst part is I have yet to hear any Bing. Lot's of Mariah, Whitney, and some other modern acts....but nothing beats Bing & Bowie doing Little Drummer Boy. Or just Bing in general.

I'm usually on FM99 (98.7). Lot's of good rock with the occasional TSO mixed in.
I should say, if anyone has the chance to see TSO in concert, it is well worth it, even if you are in the nosebleed section.

A couple of alternatives to the usual fare:
The Harmonies Hispanic Choir of Our Lady of the Angels Cathedral (LA) has a fine recording of "Villancicos of Traditional Latin America," entitled "Navidad en Español"
"Bullseye Blues Christmas" from 1995 makes a great change up pitch, known to bring smiles to even some pretty jaded victims of holiday music overload.
Len, I'm starting to think I'm related to Sue, as well as to Blur.
Ok, I just have to get this off my chest once a year.
Dear Bono:
No. They do not know it's Christmas time. There are no carols, and bells, and no holiday festive effing cheer, because they're in AFRICA. By and large, they are not Christians in that part of the world, though of course there are large swaths of Christianity in places like Ethiopia and Eritrea since of course that's where the Apostles used to hang out. But for the most part, if they do know it's Christmas, they likely don't care. They're more excited that Eid al-Adha starts next Tuesday, in some areas, and some areas are still busy being animistic and worshiping traditional African deities. And you know what? THAT'S JUST DANDY.
And there will, in fact, NOT be snow in Africa at Christmas, even though deserts get notoriously cold at night, because MOST OF AFRICA IS BELOW THE EQUATOR. Guess what that means? That's right! IT'S FRIGGIN SUMMER!!!
Thank you. I expect you'll hear from me again next year.
Sincerely,
FireCat
....phew. I feel so much better now. Thank you for allowing me to express that.
