Merry Xmas, Nobby! Lol, it's so mean but I'm envisioning a hide-and-seek with Ricard and nobody searches for him. We shall see, I'm sure the last has not been heard of from him!

Maryt here! A few numbers after the name, but close enough...

I've been giving it a few days, and still have Christmas stuff to do, wrapping gifts and lately a lot of shoveling snow! so I wouldn't have been posting much anyway.

Really tough to get runs in lately as well - our track is lighted at night, but it's covered in snow and ice. The roads are all too narrow to run on safely with all the snowbanks, and our normal route through the park is mostly clear, but there are no lights and there are a few icy spots so we can't run there after dark. So, it's been a few trips to the health club and the dreadmill, and lots of snow shoveling for activity rather than runs the last couple of weeks! Even had 2 races cancelled!

Glad to see Nobby et al here. I was an occassional poster, frequent lurker at CR so I am glad to see the gang still hanging around here while we see what happens. While the site isn't perfect (actually not even close) it really is the posters that make a board great.

Hey, Nobby - good to "see" you here. Weather has warmed up lately, no? What's with the new #'s behind familiar names. It makes me think it is people's age or something...

These little pics to the left of the posts, for the record, I think Girl In Motion has the best one.

My poster name seems to have come through unscathed, anyhow. The stars and the bars and the points and such, those I suppose we could do without. I don't wknow what that's all about, but it seems to have little to do with running. Compact text and long page length would be helpful...

Lol, thanks for the compliment on the avatar, obsessor - was thinking it was too small to even see. Yeah, in total agreement with the compact/page length comment, how I miss reading a bunch of posts on one page - I'm hoping that'll be addressed (if advertising per page doesn't take full precedence). That, and fixing the sluglike speed would make me a happier camper, for sure.

Obessor:

Good one! However, I'm only 59 (just kidding!). I have NO idea what that means--I was TOLD by Active (I guess) that this is my name. I wouldn't think there are 62 other "Nobby"s out there though...

To be honest with you; I was NOT too excited about this whole new site deal not because of the log (I know a lot of people were--or "are"--upset about it but luckily I don't use the log here) or how the site looks. It IS **** annoying that I get pushed badk to the Active page whenever I log in (and I have to log in whenever I try to write something) but, hey, every site has its own hickups anyway.

What annoyed me most was, well, I don't mean to name names but it's pretty obvious so here goes; Active Sara repeating "Let us sincerely apologize..." simply copied and pasted--that is THE least sincere way of apologizing as far as I'm concerned. And also the fact that, while she's "supposedly" working very hard, she would start out thte thread about buying new shoes and the whole thread, at least the first couple of posts, looked so faky and so "let's make our sponsors happy by having all the lurkers buy new shoes based on manufacturers' favore"-like. We need money, as a non-profit organization, I fully understand that; but we will NOT be dictated by the sponsors--we choose sponsors carefully; we do NOT promote something we don't believe in. So that was such a turn-off for me. But, you're right, it's people--us--that make this message board so irresistable (;o))--I guess same reason (or opposite reason?) why I don't want to hang around at letsrun any more! ;o)

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Letsrun is good, (I don't post under the same name, there) but you have to wade through an acre of weeds to find a stalk of wheat. And the popup word advertisement thing is wow - really annoying.

Anyhow - I checked this morning, and although I KNOW for CERTAIN that this is the 4th post I've made here, it claims 102 (I suppose it reads 103, now, or maybe 136??) but I don't want to waste time hunting up the other obsessor... and I have no idea where the stars come from... but three gold stars: my mother would be proud.

Had a bad spill on some ice this morning. Luckily, though, I only landed on my back and hand, but you can run fine with inoperable hands.

And yes, I was at first convinced that Active Sara was not real - I came across a post that makes me think that she may be a real person. Hey, Active Sara - what are your PR's?
Just testing. Not totally convinced. But I am open to the possibility that she's real. The good thing is, there is some actual response. Anyhow, a lot of people I think are just having some "fun" with finging a target for their ... (irateness??? iritibility??) crabiness. Yes, when stuff is obviously cut and paste, it is annoying.

If we can be of further assistance, please, do not hesitate to call.

Sincerely,

dld

(edited to add - good - we can edit our posts now! - and, it says I have been logged on more than 2 years before my conception.)

You guys really need to try Firefox with the Adblock plugin. I use it and rarely see any ads. If I do I can get rid of them with a couple of clicks.

I am wondering if your post count is going up because they are bring in old threads. There are a bunch in Mainstream Racing.

Thanks for the heads-up Mr. Potato Head, looks like the imported messages are arriving in some forums. Does anyone see a search function? I was looking forward to searching through old CR posts but I must be overlooking the obvious.

It looks as though some of the old threads have been imported, although some have not. So I suddenly shot up to 100 posts, but it said all were since Dec. 7.

The thread with which I am most involved (50+ in Boomers) actually appears to have nearly the most new messages of any with a goodly number of the regulars back. My sense is that some of the youngsters have been impatient about the transfer. There have been glitches and pluses (anyone notice the spell check?) and minuses (the log lets me pre-load workouts but doesn't let me get a bar graph on a weekly (as opposed to monthly) basis and all my historical runs were "easy").

I just now got back on. I do not always adjust well to change, so I am trying to give it some time, but I have to tell you that I hate this format. It is too white and very hard to read to me.

I left the Runners World forums after an upgrade and landed here and on Running Times forums. I'm not sure I'm staying, but I'll give it a chance.

I guess I'll quit sulking now...even though I'm not a "big poster" sniff.

Forgot to say how much I'm looking forward to earning those lovely, lovely points.

If it hasn't been said already, there are quite a few good folks over at RunningAhead. The log over there is quite nice, too.

Arla,

I agree, the Running Ahead site is nice. I am enjoying the Cool Running Refugee group. I particularly like the logs and the ease of signing up and signing in. As I have stated over there, I will continue to lurk here until Nobby decides where he is going to end up. I mean that in a totally non-stalker way!!!
