Here is my take on the top centers in high school basketball right now...
Samardo Samuels – St. Benedict’s – Newark, NJ
Yancy Gates – Withrow HS – Cincinnati, OH
B.J. Mullens – Canal Winchester HS – Canal Winchester, OH
Terrence Jennings – Notre Dame Prep – Fitchburg, MA
Derrick Favors – South Atlanta – Atlanta, GA
John Riek – Winchendon School – Winchendon, MA
Greg Monroe – Helen Cox – Gretna, LA
DeMarcus Cousins – Leflore – Mobile, AL
Derrick favors and demrcus cousins play each other on 1/19. game will be on espn.
Kryrl Natzayacko sp? is a big time center from img academy in florida. hes 6'10 250 and he can shhot and drive to hoop. good player who is only getting better.
That is a game i will have to DVR. Two big time recruits on national tv. I love it that espn is showing more hs hoops.
DeMarcus Cousins i think is just a flat out stud. I dont know if anyone can stop him but just slow him down. I wouldnt want to see him coming down the lane full speed.
derrick favors can stop him. It is going to be a great game. Leflore has power and favors is more agile. Going to be a great matchup.
Favors is a beast. I saw him play against Duncanville and he had 30 points and 20 rebounds against Duncanville who was preseaon number 1 in country. He was 6-6 the first half and had 20 pts and 10 rebounds. At one point he dunked on 4 duncanville players. Favors is the real deal Holyfield.
I think this kid will national player of the year.
does gatorade give out a national player of the year like they do for football???
They do. Jrue Holiday was the winner last season. I think Derrick Favors is the front runner this year. Greg Oden won the award twice in consecutive years and so did Bron Bron. Other winners inclure, Felipe Lopez, JR reid, C-Webb, and Corliss Willamson. Just some interesting names I thought I would throw out there.
thats some good history marion. JR reid and corliss williamson are two old school names. To win it two years in a row is an amazing feat considering lebron was one of them is not a surprise.
