Manning grew up in North Carolina and played three years of high school there. Then Larry Brown
the shrewd cat he washired Ed Manning as an assistant basketball coach (wonder why) and the family moved to Lawrence, Kansas for Danny's senior year. Not surprisingly, Danny picked the Jayhawks (though he has said he wanted to go to UNC before his dad was hired).
>The great players that came out of Chicago like Eddy Curry, Juwan Howard, Derrick Rose, Garnett (for one year, anyway), Luther Head, Dee Brown and even >current college stars like Sherron Collins and Jon Scheyer. And of course, the best documentary ever, Hoop Dreams, took place in the Windy City.
It's an interesting debate. I'll go with Chicago.
While Chicago isn't my home town, having lived here for more than six years now I take great pride in this city. You have a nice list going of talent that has come out of Chicago. I'd like to add one more. Candace Parker.
One of my teammates in college played against her in high school. Pretty cool.
I have to agree with that. Chicago is an absolute mecca of hoops. Intersting you said candace parker, she could finish her career as the greatest womnes basketball player ever.
Ill take Philly heres why.....Kobe, Wilt, Lionel Simmons, Earl Monroe and the fifth is whoever you want...could be the 12 man from chestnut hill academy. That squad is legit.
