Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy and if you go to visit the Today show or Good morning america, let us all know and I'll tape it.
They just cancelled our flight. I hate American Airlines.
Oh no - sorry Nita!
Oh no!! It hasn't snowed in hours; the roads are pretty clear. Airlines suck! What are you gonna do?
American has a flight tomorrow morning but they ridiculously jacked up the price (almost $1500!). You can get to Philly for about $360 on Southwest then a two hour or so train to NYC.
That really sucks Nita, but Craig might have found you a way around it. The news here isn't very good either, I just got an email from my daughter that my son-in-law got laid off. He left Newsweek about 4 months ago, had been there for 7 years, and took a job with Rolling Stone Magazine, his dream job. He survived the first round of lay-offs and got hit today. It really stinks, they always do this shi! before xmas. Ah well, everything happens for a reason and God only knows, there might be something better around the corner, we hope.
I hope you can get a flight Nita. That's my one worry for Disney. We're driving down but my daughter is flying. We're praying for good weather.
Charlotte, I only had one bagel. If it helps, it was supposed to be part of my breakfast but I had a donut instead.
We've come this far and it's still the same,
Runnin' out here in the rain.
Just one more mile, if only you could fly.
(Apologies to T. Rush and J. Tempchin, for the paraphrase)
Sorry about your son-in-law's layoff, Omi! 'Tis the season & the economy. Second one I've heard today. ![]()
That stinks, Omi! My Dad worked for the same company for over 35 years. He was due to retire next August. They laid him off. My father's wife also got laid off around the same time. Tough times.
Yes, that does stink, Charlotte. A lot worse than missing a trip to NYC. I'm so sorry.
We got on a Sunday morning 6 a.m.
flight from DFW through St. Louis to NYC. Lost a day of sightseeing/shopping, but will still get to our off-Broaday and Broadway plays if all stays as planned. It sucks. But it could be a lot worse. At least I will get to watch the Cowboys' last game at Texas Stadium tomorrow night now!
Trying to look at the bright side of a 2-day $3K trip.......
Sorry to hear about your SIL's layoff, Omi. We're seeing more outsourcing where I work. I was outsourced 10 years ago and it looks like it will happen again next year. Loads of fun. I'll probably still have a job though. Jen I hope your dad was able to take retirement (even though it wasn't time yet). There are advantages to retiring instead of being laid off. If I get re-outsourced I'll retire from my current company instead of "quitting".

Thanks guys, I just feel so bad for them. Jen, as Len said, hopefully your dad was ready to take retirement when this happened. And Len, I don't know how you feel about retiring, but it's actually quite wonderful. Hopefully this economy will pick up in the near future, but, honestly, it looks so darn bleak right now for so many people. And as I told them this morning, it's no consolation and doesn't take the scare away, but all four of them are healthy and as I know and have seen, that truly is the most important thing to have. Now let's just hope they make it here tomorrow, we had a foot of snow and there is a storm coming in with another foot starting tomorrow and they don't know the timing. They're leaving NYC at 11 and are supposed to be here at 12:15. Keep your fingers crossed that it'll start snowing round 2.
