UCLA had that 88 game win streak from '71-'74. A young Digger Phelps coached the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame to the upset win that ended the streak. Something people might not know is Notre Dame was down 17 at half and was losing 70-59 with 3:30 left to play. The Irish won 71-70.
UCLA was dominant under coach Wooden. 88 wins is 2 and half seasons without a loss. Now Digger Phelps is doing broadcasting and his daughter is married to Jamie Moyer of the Phillies.
I also heard of another amzing little streak in the little known sport of Division 3 lacrosse. The Salisbury University Seag Gulls won 69 consecutive games before blowing the streak in the championship just like South Panola.
