“The special registration events offer runners a unique chance to get into the MCM before it opens to the general public,” said Rick Nealis, Director. “This is the MCMâ€TMs way of thanking runners for their dedication not only to the Marine Corps Marathon but to the sport of running.”

The 2009 MCM will be held on October 25 in Washington, DC.  Online registration begins at noon eastern on April 1 at http://www.marinemarathon.com/ and is open to runners ages 14 and older on a first come, first served basis.  The race field is limited to 30,000 runners and in 2008 sold out in just five days.

Oh, great info, Chuck, thanks!

BTW, can any of you Houstonians tell me, if I'm staying at the Courtyard Marriott downtown/convention center, is the Expo in walking distance?  And how about the marathon start/finish?  Just if you happen to know, I'd appreciate knowing.

Re: Houston runners

Definitely within walking distance IMO, it's like 7 blocks maybe?  BUT, you could always take a cab and it's only 7 bucks I think anywhere within the Downtown Business District.

Re: Houston runners

Yep, you are not very far away.  The expo and the start/finish are at the GRB convention Center.  You are less than a mile probably.

Gee, thanks for posting my goal.  ****, now I am committed.  I may have to drink less at St Arnold's.  Nah.

For Nita:  Start/Finish location is same as expo at the George R Brown convention center.  I stayed at the Courtyard 2 years ago.  It is a nice walk to the start, not too far.  There was a parking lot directly across the street that cost less than the hotel lot, but that may have changed.

Obsess, obsess, obsess.....
