Phelps Photo

I know this is a basketball forum, but what do you guys make of the Michael Phelps photo of him smoking dope? Is it a big deal or is it getting blown out of proportion? He needs to know he is one of the biggest athletes in the world, and he can't put himself into situations that could ruin his reputation.

    I think this could hurt his sponsorships the worst. He is stilla young guy (24) but he has to realize everything he does will be scrutinize. Yet, u cannot judge him for smoking dope bc im sure many people around his age group do the same. But they do not own 8 gold medals in last years olympics

    good point,  he is not just a regular college kid who likes to smoke pot. If he wants to get high, show a little restraint and do it when someone cant take a picture of you with their camera phone. Yes pot really is not that bad, its not like he got caught with steriods or hard street drugs, but it is still illegal and it tarnishes his image. He has to know he is a role model for so many young swimmers out there. He needed to be the bigger man and not try to act cool by getting high with a bunch of college kids. Every one of theose kids at that party would kill to be in his shoes, and he might have ruined his reputation because he wanted to be cool.

    His reputation and his millions of dollars which might have been lost could be the biggest hit. Now I hear the sheriff of the town wants to pursue charges which is absurd.

    He just officially apologized for what he did. Its a shame bc he seems like a good kid and shouldnt be judged on what he did but then again Penny was judged bc of his poor acting skills in Blue Chips

    This is strike two for phelps. In 2004 he got a DUI in Salisbury, MD. Now he got caught smoking drugs. People are going to judge him alot i think. He is or was an american role model. I think it tells kids if Michael phelps can get high and win gold medals then so can I. Phelps needs to grow up and know that people will take advantage of him if they can.

     

     

    I would like to be the kid who took the picture. He probably got a real nice pay day for that photo, shop it around to the highest bidder.

     

     

     

     

     

    P.S. Blue chips was the best penny has ever played, and he would have been good if it wasnt for Neon Bidoux

    Yea he has to know who he is with. I think he did not realize how many people are out to take advantage of him.

    I guess now he does know how many are out to get him. But he should have known that before hanging out with those kids.

    I hope Phelps cashed in while he could. If not, I do not know if he can afford those 3,000 calroie breakfasts much longer.

    Valid point there Eric, A-Rod is all the headlines and Michael Phelps is just the back page news now.  and he also wont be affording those 3000 calorie meals if he has a big pot habbit to feed.

    Yea I mean why else would he have Cheetos inside his six egg omelet. 3000 calories is just a serious case of the munchies.

    Speaking of Drugs, I heard Jamal Anderson, aka the dirty bird, got caught with pot and coke.

     

     

     

     

     

    Also Freddy Mitchell, aka fred Ex, got caught with a fed ex package addressed to him with seven pounds of weed in it.

     

     

    these guys are such idiots. I hate freddy mitchell
