The song that always gets me going is The Killers' "All These Things That I've Done." I first heard the chorus on a Nike commercial during the Olympics, and it just has such a great feel to it- I ALWAYS get a runner's high when it comes on.
I also realized that when I'm about to give up, Elton John's "I'm Still Standing" is extremely appropriate, and the beat behind the music matches my footfalls on a 6.5mph pace.
Back in High School when I ran cross country, I found Whats my age again by blink 182 had the perfect tempo for my feet, but thats when running was to compete, not to get in shape, now that i'm running to get into shape, its harder to push myself that extra mile or 2, so I like to listen to songs I can play on my guitar, i.e. Avenged sevenfold Bat Country, or Unholy Confessions, or godsmack or breaking benjamin..... songs that get my blood flowing and my adrenaline-a-pumpin
I make a point out of limiting how often I run with music, though I do enjoy running with music. I find this keeps both the music and my running fresh. Doing so also helps me improve my ability to associate rather than disassociate when running closer to my perceived limits.
Here are 3 of my favorites: "Grace" Phil Wickham, "Where the Streets Have No Name" U2, and "God's Gonna Cut You Down" Johnny Cash.
I never saw the Johnny Cash song as a running song until I watched this video from Josh Cox: 31 mile training run with Josh Cox and Ryan Hall in Mammoth
Black Eyed Peas - Let's Get It Started, Smashmouth - Walking on The Sun and Patty Smith - I am The Warrior!

As you can tell I do like my 80s stuff, especially that DD music.
Oooh, fun question...
Sprints and Intervals? (200s, 400s, and my personal favorite, the distance from ****: 300s) Little Crystal Method, some Prodigy, and BT... Great stuff to go til you fall over, as I'm wont to do on sprint days.
Short runs? (1.5-4 miles) Scandanavian folk metal. Oh yes, I'm serious. Ensiferum, Eluveitie, Wintersun... Oh yes. That or some quality hard rock (Alter Bridge, Foo Fighters, Creed, some Linkin Park)
Long runs (5-10)? Trance, Pop/rock, Celtic folk... gots ta keep the hormones at manageable levels lest I find myself in trouble quickly ;).
My alltime favorite song to run to is Europe's "Cherokee" . I think that some 80's music like Europe, Guns and Roses, Poison, Van Halen, etc.can really pump you up.
Hope that helps.
