It is official

I am retired!

Yesterday was a great day of reflection with my family, friends and fellow Marines.  After recieving the final decision from HQ, it took me a week or so to get my mind wrapped around the prospect of life after the Corps.

I start my new job on Monday doing essentially the same thing I have been doing for the last 2 1/2 years in the same building.

There are things I will surely miss.  There are others I certainly won't.

    Congratulations, Marine!  Wow...thats fantastic.

Running and exercise certainly anchored me through my transition.

Your transition seems alot smoother than mine...

Congratulations, Mike. I imagine that must have been a big decision. It is fortunate that you are stepping right into another job.

Congrats Mike! Your new job being essentially the same as your old one should help ease the transition. Good luck!

Mike, you know you can do it, Las Vegas is going to be a blast, and the spousal unit will enjoy it.  You can always run the half.

Semper Fi, Marine and congratulations to you and your family!  I think you ought to know if you haven't figured this out, that just because you retire, you don't stop being a Marine.  Your mission may change, but you won't.  You won't wear a particular uniform every day, but the uniform you have on the inside of mission accomplishment, protecting the smaller and weaker, your appreciation for your country, community, and the environment will not rub off or fade no matter how long you grow your pony tail!  Take it from the daughter of a Marine and wife of a Marine (and NO, you smarties - I'm not from Alabama so they are not the same guy!), that your ability and desire to climb that hill will remain in your being and makeup forever.  You'll have new hills to take, but your attack on them won't change much.  Good luck as you make the transition, but I have no worries over your future successes.  You're a Marine!
