Good luck, snowman. Wait for me at the finish. I was looking at about an 8:00 pace or just under it. With the new Garmin 405 I can set my virtual partner's pace and it will tell me how far ahead or behind I am. Kind of cool.

I have that feature on my old Garmin 205 from 3 years ago. Did the 305 not have it? Just curious. It seems odd that they would have not kept it through each upgrade. I use it all of the time on tempo runs and long runs. You probably know this already, but add a couple tenths of a mile when you set the distance so it doesn't shut off before you cross the finish line. That is unless you can plot the course ahead of time and store it in the device. Talk to you soon.

Karl, I have that feature on the 305 but I'm pretty sure it's based on a previous workout/course and not a "goal" workout. With the 405, I just scroll to the screen with the VP-pace and then adjust the number up and down to the pace I want. No previous workout or course required.

Interesting. The Virtual Partner feature on the 205 works exactly as you described. You could also compare your performance to previous workouts if you ran the same course. I didn't mess with that too much though. Good luck in your race this weekend. That goes for you too Craig, and everybody else who is running. Talk to you soon.

But that's a week after Vermont. And I will be doing NO racing that weekend!

Oh, I get it.  You NEVER run races on back to back weekends, do you?

I suspect the 305 has it and I just didn't "enable" it . . . but that's very good to know and another plus for the 305.

Only marathons, Ron.    Admittedly, these races ARE beating me up.  With Alaska and Seattle coming up in June, I think I'd better race less, recover more, and stay healthy.  (That was, astonishingly, a bit of wisdom... in the face of my normal stupidity.)

No slumming Craig!  I'm still healing and a goal of 1:45-1:40 is good.  My last half a month ago was 1:48 on a flat course.  We'll see how it goes the first half.
