BioFreeze, Good or Bad

I did a quick search on the running forums and I'm kind of surprised I didn't find more info on BioFreeze. Does anyone use it; does it work; any suggestions on where I can get the lowest price?

I'm still rehabing my shin splints and my foot doc suggested that I use BioFreeze before my run. I was about to buy some online when it dawned on my that I should post here to learn more before I do

Thanks to all!!

I know a lot of people that use BioFreeze and absolutley love it.  I have used it a few times and it does great things for my muscles but also gives me a horrible rash.  I would start with a small order so you can make sure you don't have a reaction to it!

Our high school training room use to freeze dixie cups with a water / biofreeze mixture to use on shin splints. It worked wonderfully well. Give it a try, let us all know!

I've had it around for a while now; it does a good job of knocking back my occasional hip pain.

Was digging around in my travel bag after a marathon a few weeks back and noticed a sample pack I'd picked up at some 5K or other. I basically emptied the thingshins, quads, hips, even neck and shouldersa bit of a self-massage, if you will. It worked wonders. Probably could've accomplished the same or better with the recommended ice bath, but I just can't bring myself to do that...

I use an arinica gel for sore and pulled muscles.  I have found that it doe wonders for my soreness and really helps my recovery time.  It's an over-the-counter homeopathic remedy that you should be able to find at most health food stores.  Here's a link to the specific brand I use but I'm sure most arnica gels will do the trick:

I ran the Disney World Marathon in January with a sore heel (not PF) and they had BioFreeze at the aid stations. It worked great on sore muscles, did nothing for my heel.

I use Biofreeze for all soreness and injuries to joints. I buy mine from my chiropractor so you might check and see if someone locally sells it. An 8 oz. bottle is usually around $20. I haven't had any problems with it, just make sure you wash your hands well after use.

I love it but it is just a topical!  It won't heal a major problem but it does sometimes get me through a day!  My skin tolerates it well

You've got that right!    Let me know if you find a good outlet for the stuff - at my age sometimes I feel like taking a bath in it! (ONLY joking - don't start writing about how bad it would be...) Yikes! Hope your rehab is going well, Blessings, Ragz
