I'll try to do it with you! I am actually doing a 5k tomorrow (but most likely walking the majority of it). I will be out of town for two weeks with little access to email, but we can catch up the week of July 6th and then starting up on the week of July 27th. I will try to maintain the program from out of town!!!

I'm jumping on board with you and sure could use the support and accountability!  I am almost 39, overweight and not a runner by any stretch of the imagination. I am ready to get fit for once in my life. Look forward to tackling this together -  Time to dust off the running shoes....

Count me in! I am 36 and overweight but find excersize addicting when I stick to it. I was excited to kick this plan off tomorrow but doing it with others is an added bonus!

I'm starting tomorrow.  I just found the podcasts and finished downloading them.  I'm hoping to run a 5k in September and this is perfect to help me get there.

Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

Okay, add me to the list.

I did the Peachtree yesterday (precious little running involved) and am living on Advil today ... and probably tomorrow and the next day. But ... I did it. Hated it, but I did it. Have a goal that maybe next year I can actually run the run. But babysteps, first.

I know myself well enough to know that actually doing the program won't be the hard part ... getting my shoes on and out the door will. Once I'm over that part I'm okay, but I am the queen of excuses and stalling, so hopefully being here will hold me accountable!

W1D1 done. I used Suz's podcast, and, fortunately, my neighborhood is fairly flat.

I'm out of town for a few days. I'm taking my iPod and shoes, but making no promises if D2 will happen before  Thursday.

I started the C25k this morning using a podcast I got off Itunes this weekend.  I am in decent shape - i run and bike a little - but I wanted an organized program to get me to the 5k level slowly and injury free.

Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

Hey guys, Elmer here.. Also started the C25K today.

Little background about me. Struggled with my weight from childhood up until now. I weight 300lbs in the eighth grade. I decided sophmore year to give my all and try and lose the weight. Obesity as well as the related illness and health problems, including high blood pressure, heart attacks and basically anything you can think are prevelent in my relatives and past family. I went from about 320 to 220 in probably about 2 years, maybe less, and was at my lowest last year in February which was 203. However, the day I began my current job that March I stopped exercising and returned to bad eating habits, for whatever reason. I had gained upwards of 50lbs since then but have settled down to, since the last time i weighed myself, about 240-242lbs.

Im 20 years old now and made the decision last week to start walking, and then running again, and this seems like the perfect way to kickstart and begin acheiving my goals. I am ready, and started my daily 4.5 mile walks and exercising last week. Today I began the C25K program, and I have to say I had a great time out there today.

Hope everyone else is doing well out there and also taking advantage of this summer weather. And I hope we can all get to know each a bit and coach each other along, sharing our struggles as well our triumphs.

Elmer

Re: Anyone Else Starting C25K Week of July 6th?

MandyBlue,

Count me in! Actually started yesterday (5JUL) with my first run, using the podcasts from Robert Ullray-the music was great and it was nice not to try and juggle times, sets etc. Workout went by quickly. It would be great to be able to have some folks to check in with on those days when the motivation might lag a bit!

Anyways, looking like my workout days are SUNDAY/TUESDAY/THURSDAY due to the job.

Take care!

Caz
