My first race! It was a lot of fun, and I loved the encouragement from the crowd.

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

Lots of fun!  I loved the cheering crowd (even though they had gathered for the parade and not the runners   )!  One woman sat towards the end of the race course chanting "you can do it!" to all the runners as they passed.  So funny :)!  The course was great, lots of uphill so it was challenging but not overly so.  I will do it again next year for sure!

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

I talked to one of the race coordinators after the race and they had some glitch. Several hundered runners ran the wrong way and somehow messed up the computer system. As soon as it is fixed they will post on the internet, but they did not know how long.

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

I know there was some bad luck with the computer...but, I really love this run and I feel that the only thing that spoiled it was a lack of communication.  Nobody was happy about the aftermath as it was confusion.  All that needed to be said to the entire crowd was that the results would happen later.  We did wait for 2 hours for the unattended awards gathering.

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

I dont understand why the organizers dont send out an email to let us know what is going on with the results. Right now it is all hearsay and rumor. They just sent out a mass email earlier this week with instructions. I am also wondering who the IDIOTS were who ran the course backwards, if that is what really happened......

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

Since they had registration on the other side of the finish line, is it possible they turned on the finish clock before the race started? Because there were a lot of people walking over the finish line to get to the 5K start. I agree a mass email would be nice! It was a great race anyway, but I miss the cool medal at the end.

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

What an absolute joke!!! Our kids had been training for the 1 mile race  The course was not clearly marked so just after the race started half the kids ran one way and half the another.  I talked to a race organizer and he said they were supposed to follow the "rabbit" or ATV but they couldn't find the keys so there was no one to lead the kids.  Couldn't someone have run in front of them to show them the way???  The organizer was pathetic in his response to the confusion, he said if I don't like how it turned out I ought to volunteer or not have my kids run next year.  I guess I could volunteer to hold the ATV key!  What a disappointment on so many levels.

Re: Freedom Run 2009 Reviews

My 1st time in this 10K not impressed at all, no effort to get the runners psyched out, no National Anthem no count down, some kind of firework started it I guess. From the e-mail received July 1 "We are going to have a great time and a very patriotic start?. I was expecting a finishers medal?.as was stated on the registration when I signed up, latter changed to a water bottle,I was issued the Wrong size shirt?
